Hello Randy, I've been following this build and enjoying every minute. It is a really impressive job and a beautiful model. I like the chair stowed on the rear fender, nice touch. Kudos. Al

Used the decals for the Unit and Formation signs that came with the kit and made the Squadron signs and serial numbers for this car. Adding on the stowage and working on the weathering.....

This will be a Canadian car from the 12th Manitoba Dragoons in NWE . Five of these AA models were assigned to the headquarters squadron.
Hey Randy,
Everything's looking great !!!
Just an FYI, the kit markings are for the Royal Canadian Dragoons with the I Canadian Corp, not the 12th Manitoba Dragoons who were attached to II Canadian Corps.
Royal Canadian Dragoons
12th Manitoba Dragoons
I'm happy to see that Bronco got the kit's Formation markings correct, the maple leaf on the red diamond is the WWII version and not the modern maple ieaf as in their other Staghound kits.
I wish someone did a correct set of I & II Canadian Corps markings
Archer made the same mistake as Bronco and I'm unaware of any other AM sets.
Cheers

Hi John, Thank you for the heads up on the markings, I mssed that!! It looks like the diamond shaped background for the mapleleaf should be a dark blue for the II Canadian Corps?
Thanks, Randy and Happy New Year!!

That's correct Randy, a blue diamond background.
Here's the two Formation signs for comparison.

Randy-- I can only repeated what my fellow droolers stated...this project is astounding in terms of detail and realism. Tremendous job. I have several questions regarding your construction of the head sets. How did you make the ear pieces? How did you determine the correct size for the bend? What did you use to create the bend in the headset?
thanks
DJ

Thanks John, looks like I need to break out the blue paint
Hi DJ, Thank you for the comments......I did not scratch the headsets, they came from the spares box. I believe it was Dragon Models "German Tank Crew" # 6375. Just bent them around a paint brush handle that was a little smaller than the head of a figure. Even though they were german they are close enough for me
The photo credit is NAC Jack Smith PA 1144149 from Osprys staghound book and is for discussion purposes only. It shows staghounds from the 12th Manitoba Dragoons in Germany 1945.
Thanks, Randy

Hi Folks, An update....
Still working on tires with chains, found these on Armorscale's site ...
They look good but the chain was mastered using round link chain while my ref. shows this...
Photos by Jack Smith NAC Osprey's book "Staghound Armored Car"
Patton Museum photo..
Service Publications "Factory Photos"..
So I decided to build my own (this is all ChefChris's fault!) Atrip to the local craft store produced some chains from the jewelery making department...
Still plan on the stag being part of a larger dio. but wanted to build a small base for now. Will go with a forest scene with some tall trees, a small pond section and the stag in a clearing doing some routine maintence going on...
Forest ground cover......
The pond....
The tall trees will be trunks carved from balsa wood with an embossed paper wraper. The branches are caspia and the roots are pieces of sagebrush. The "old growth" dead fall is a plant from my yard....
Some figs from Alpine....
Still work to done, need some mud so those chains will be used and the figs need some paint....
As always, your comments are welcomed.....Randy

Hi Folks, I forgot to ask this in my earlier post, what would be correct for the color of the " pixie suits" for Canadians? Same as the Brits? thanks, Randy

Your dio building abilities are on par with your scratch building... Like I said: Amazing!
What did you use for grass and plants?

Hi Stefan, Thank you for the kind words,
Most of the stuff on the dio. is from the dried plant department at the local craft store, the long grass is sold by www.scenicexpress.com The photo has two of the dried plants that I use alot, CandtyTuff and Caspia along with the grass....
Also used the usual ground foam for short grass and moss , from Woodland Scenics..
Hope this helps...................Randy
