Here you go guys, My finished Dio for the bob campaign!!!! Its Tamiya's 1/48th Spitfire Mk1 being Chased by a Hasagawa 1/48th Bf 109 E-1both are Hypothetical aircraft no aces or specific persons being represented. The base was painted by my lovely wife Anne (SOW1), I made the frame myself ( my first one, I'll redo it after more practice). Finally I'd like to thank SS-74 for his support and Mal for this campaign!!!! I'd never hav attemted this without this opportuniy. so here are the pics......
comments are welcome. STUG

Hi Stugiiif!
That's such a neat way of displaying the planes! It really brings everything to life, seeing the models "airborne"... and of course it fun to tease the RAF builders by putting the Spit on the receiving end!
Maybe you could write a little feature on how you mounted the models?...
Lovely job :-)
All the best

I like the way he mounted the planes, but I must admit that the base is not my best work... I found myself in unfamiliar territory... No oil paints, wrong brushes, and on wood not canvass... It was a doozie, but he seems happy with the way it looks. I'll have to keep working on stuff like that I guess, before I'm happy with it.. (++) (++)

Lord StugSteve,
This is amazing, very very nicely done dio. Looked awesome. and Anne, you are truely anartist the paint is somewhat reflects the post-modern impressionist brush stroke that I come to be so familiar in the local art gallery, the subtle change of colors express the despression of alternating, the sound of silence, the passion of the still water. Amazing, yet somehow blend in totally with the dogfight took place above.
Great work. (++)

Thanks for the nice comments guys, but I really must say this is far from my genre... I usually do birds or seascapes! lol I'm a tad bit out of practice... Been pregnant too long and too many times recently to be able to paint the way I like... Oh well.... I'll get back into it eventually . (I hope) xxxx (++)

Phantom I was more the Idea of the unknown.... Looking at it you still can't tell who would win the fight!! Also, I wanted to show that to those 2 pilots, they we're esentially alone even though there probably 10 other Planes in the area. oh well thanks for your comments. STUG

Excellent work. This came out great.
SOW1 - if you haven't thought of this already, next time try covering the wood with canvas first if you want to paint on canvas.
Inspiring.

Stug & SOW1,
Great job. Love both the painting and the way the planes are attached. You all get an AA++ on this one!

but the spit will make a loop .
I hope it isnt a GROUND loop.
That is a great diorama idea, not limiting the subjects to the framed area.
They apear free to go anywhere.... (++) (++) (++)

Mr and Mrs Stug, that's a great entry for the campaign you've done here !
Still, I must agree with the others : the spit, should be behind...
