The only "dud" DML kit that I just did not like to build was the BMP-1

You hit the nail on the head....this kit sucks big time for a DML kit. I never even finished mine I got so disgusted with it. This is the only DML kit I have been dis-satisfied with though.
I own several DML/Dragon/Shanghai Dragon kits and have always loved the quality and detail AND even the individual track links. I think I may have done the "Ausf.G". Is that the KURSK kit??? If it was I built it a few years back and enjoyed the kit thoroughly and do not recall encountering any problems at all. It builds up into a nice model.

dragon in my humble opinion is now superior to tamiya, especially in figures. any dragon figure set after 6050 and the armor after the first few are well worth building. tamiya armor is still pretty good, especially after the late tiger with link-to-link track. have fun. :-)

While on the topic, can anyone explain how/why DML numbers their kits the way they do...
ie. kit # 6000's and then jumps to kit # 9000's?

As far as I can figure (and this is just a guess), the 3500 numbers are for their "Modern AFV Series"; the lower 6000 numbers are the "1939-45 Series"; the 6800 numbers are for the "Korean War Series"; and the 9000s are for their "Imperial Series". I do have an M4A3E8 that is 9009 in the Imperial Series as well as 6811 in the Korean War series. Go figure.

Hmm.. I heard only good reports on Dragon models..

bummer they don't have a proper web page with pics. Does anyone know a web page listing all Dragon kits like in a catalogue ?

Also asked in my local hobby shop - according to them there is no 2002 print catalogue..

Any help greatly appreciated !!

maxpain,

Try http://www.rollmodels.com/ for a thorough list of their kits (no pics though) or you can try the US importer of DML kits for some pics http://www.marcopoloimport.com/.

The numbering system is related to the "era" as said, but it also is related to the origin of the kits.

6000 kits are DML originals in the 1939 - 1945 series.
9000 kits are reboxes/Gunze Sanyo originals remoulded/and so on

That's why some PzIII kits have moulded on torsion bars and others don't (6000 vs 9000 kits).

Cheers

Rob

Yes the 60s and 113 are academy these are molds and tooling that were bought
from dragon . The 113 probably the best i've built in some time I'd rate the interior
as a ten and needs only some minor details that are scratch bulit.
It was alot of fun even if did have one piece tracks

I've spent the last couple weeks building the DML M-26 Pershing. Its a highly detailed kit and a lot of fun to build, but I'd reccomend it to intermediate or advanced modelers. There are a few minor fitting issues, but nothing really bad so far. Thanfully DML appears to have fixed their thick sprue problem - haven't broken a part yet. The instructions are still a little hard to read - I'd like to get DML's new Panther A, so I can get a look at their new full color instructions I've heard about.

I'd like to see some new DML figures too. I've just gotten into painting the figures that come with the vehicles and have picked up a few Tamiya figure kits. The DML kits look great, but most of them are of soldiers walking or lounging around. I'd rather have figures in more action poses - shooting, throwing grenades, etc.
