Great start - having recently build the Zvezda 1/35 T-80UD kit it will be interesting to see how you tackle this one!

Look forward to future work in progress pictures.

Hi, interesting mixture of the both kits!
Some years ago, I built both kits; the T-80_ERA from Dragon (same kit as Zvezda and Revell) and Skif´s T-80UD.
Looks like, you want to use the "parade-scheme".

greetings...

Should be a interesting build! I look forward to your progress. Remember that the rear engine deck is for one of the proposed Kharkov diesel engined T-80U's, not a production T-80UD.

The white rings he is putting on the roadwheels are for the rims...SKIF's kit does not have rims on the wheels.

To Jacques:

Can you give me more photo? Thanks

I am not exactly sure what you want more photo's of, the prototype or a T-80UD m85?

The photo's you have are almost all of the ones I have seen...and they are from the yard around the Kharkov plant where that tank has been sitting since the 1980's. It is the only one in existence. But that does not mean you cannot have fun modelling it!

Ahh, now I understand the difference between the T-80 tanks and the kits.
I wondered about the appearance of the Skif-kit for comparison to the others from Dragon/Zvezda/Revell.

Looks really good so far!
Interesting mixture of the different kits (colors of plastic), scratched parts and shaping of the turret!

That tank is not the prototype. It is not from the Kharkov plant and not from the Ukraine.
This is a serial vehicle (first series) from Russia.

Fantastic work! This really is a pleasure to follow.

I agree with others the ERA blocks are brilliant and very well done. Seeing this come together has been really interesting.

I'm not much of a scratch builder, having only ever made small attempts in the past at building upgrade parts in plasticard, but this blog really has been an inspiration. I will try to branch out more and get some more ambitious items done.

I guess I will have to disagree until other pictures show up of a tank with this engine deck in service use. I have 2 sets of pictures, one of a tank like this in a scrap yard and one of a tank at Kubinka. None of a T-80UD in service use with K-1/3 ERA, let alone with that engine deck design.

Do you have pictures to show it in use?

Guanghui - Very nice work on this kit. You are doing marvels.
