The DML M55 MG mount is a specific mount designed for that quad 50. The covered trailer looks like it could be the M7 Generator trailer, available from Azimut in resin (incorrectly marked as the M45 trailer or something). They normally didn't tow trailers -- but if something could be added and was needed, they'd get something

What about a 1-ton "Ben Hur" cargo trailer ? (looks like it has only one axle) CGM Productions has released 2 variants : Wooden body (#028A) : Steel body (#029A) :

An M20 certainly could pull a 3/4 ton trailer, Probably a 1 1/2 ton trailer. Or you could go for a water buffalo or a jeep trailer. The Ben Hur was a Navy/Marine trailer and I don't think it was ever used in Europe.

In answer to What Trailer did the M-20 pull Assuming that you are speaking about a Tank Recovery Vehicle, an M-20, consisting of M-19 Truck (Really a T-980 or T-981 Dai-T Truck, Ballist, PM=Prime Mover that towed a M-9 Rogers Trailer, TRV, 45T 2Axles x 16 Wh with a Tow Dolly 1Axle 4Wh.

Also there was come conjecture about the commonly called Ben Hur 1T Trailer being used only in the Pacific. As I recall, they produced something over 5,000 of them and they were used in Europe. In fact, the Top picture of the 82nd Abn was in Europe.

The first photo might be early post-war. The lack of stowage and the relatively clean appearance of the M-20s would suggest this. The lack of cargo pockets on the trousers would point to a non-paratrooper unit. That wouldn't rule out a glider troop but M-20s would not have been assigned to an airborne division until post-war. The 14 bumper code suggest the unit might be the 14th Cavalry Group. Perhaps your grandfather might have served with this unit during the drawdown at the end of the war with units disbanding and soldiers lacking enough points to return to the US being reassigned to other units.
