I started the Italeri M923A1 kit several years ago and brought it to this shape:

Later all the work was put on hold.

But recently I got back to modeling and after finishing the MiG-29A model, that some of you might know from Armorama gallery, I decided to finally finish this poor truck.
But as my own standards have changed during these years, I decided to disassemble the model and start it all over again. I left the old paint - just smoothed it with some steel wool. Only in some places it was removed by sanding if required.

This time I decided to add many details to the model as can be seen on photos below. Some parts are from Eduard PE set, some from Real Models resin set and most are scratchbuilt.

To read the full detailed review of the Italeri kit I wrote, please visit my web page: http://vodnik.net and choose Reviews from the menu. There is also an article about my current work on this model in Current Project section of my webpage.

Now tell me what you think! Just remember the rules on this forum - you are supposed to be honest #:-)

Pawel

... and a beautiful paint job!!! Geeze, love the camo!

I snazzed one up (as a DS1 vehicle) a few years ago too altho not to the extend that you've gone too. Had a 7 month blast with mine and it jokingly became known as the "woman swooner" on the show circuit.

Thanks for all comments!
I only hope I'll be able to paint the model again as well as it was painted the first time

That's couragious. You DISSASSEMBLED a well built kit. And by the looks of it you are really doing a fine job on adding a huge about of detail to it.
The fenders seem a bit thin, are you planning on a lip to give them more thickness or am I just wrong about thickness?

Scott,

These are actually not fenders, just splash guards (rubber in the real thing) that cover the engine. They will fit under the original kit fenders.

Looks like a purse made from a Sow's ear. Great job!!! (Man I hate Cliches)
Nice article/review on your site on improving this kit and the history behind it. As one of many pending projects your insights are a help.
