wait a minute here! Are you guys telling me this is in 1/72??

It's true

No smoke and mirrors here, it is 1/72 scale

Best comments for us 1/72 scale builders is when we get
our stuff mistaken for 1/35 scale models...

Thank You Very Much!!!

Best Regards

How long did it take you to do this masterpiece?

Thanks!!!

I would say about three weeks in total... One week for the Sherman
another week for the groundwork and figures and one week for
finetuning the details. I worked about half an hour up to an hour
per day so I guess roughly between 15 to 20 hours.

Cheers

That's some amazing work for 15-20 hours! I can't even finish a single model in that amount of time, let alone a diorama! Great job!

Hej Sven-Åke
Great to see this is getting the appreciation it deserves. Like I said earlier .. the figures are amazing, and its great to see so many on such a small base ... adds perfectly to the rush hour theme.

have been to the Danish IPMS contest once a couple of years ago but then there was no dedicated 1/72 scale class so the competition was pretty tough going up against the 1/35 scale guys

I think you could carry your own against 1/35 today. Your ability to bring out detils, shadow and highlights in such a small scale cannot be under-estimated. Great stuff ... looking forward to seeing it soon! See you at the C4!

[quoteThe best comments we who builds 1/72 scale models can get is when
people think our stuff is 1/35 scale, that really makes all the hard work
pay off.
[/quote]

Well, you got me......I really thought this was 1:35 and had to keep going back to the photos when I was reading the postings.
It's all been said above, but superb colors and painting, great ground work, nice theme
An all around cool diorama

Cheers,
Charles

Thanks Charles!!!

I think it came out pretty OK... Nothing really sticks out colorwise
which was my goal to make it as even in nuances as possible
but still make it colorful...

Cheers

Now that looks like something right out of a WWII photograph and with that dark background it gives it a sense of an overcast and cold day near the coast. Some of the best small scale figures that I have seen to date. And that Sherman sure looks real. Really like the dried mud on the running gear.

Thanks for sharing another one of your works of art!!!

Can you please let me know what Vallejo brown shades you used for the ground works? Love to know

First it was a mix of dried up soil from one of the plants we have in the livingroom
which I mixed with white glue and some water. Once it dried it became quite
natural but I think I used Vallejo Air Hemp to brighten it and Chokolate Brown
and black to darken some areas and also some oilbased washes with Raw
Umber and Black... Sitting at work now so I can't really be sure about all Vallejos
that I used but the basic ones are there...

I hope it helps a little

Thanks Eddy!!!

Glad you noticed that detail too

If a vehicle drives in conditions like this, it's bound to pick up stuff
that sticks to the tracks and other parts of the running gear...

Just addiing a little bit more realism

Greatful for your comments!!!

Cheers

I know a piece is good when I'm jealous, and right now, I'm very, very jealous. Great job.

Can you tell us more about the civilian figures? Are they from a kit(s) or scratch?

Sorry to hear that I've made you jealous with my little dio
I am also happy that you like so much.

The figs are from Preiser, MIG and Milicast. The refugees
are the Preiser ones and the tank commander is from MIG
and the rest of the tank crew are from Milicast.
