Reminds me of one of the early ML contests where one of the entrants had voted for himself several times. Probably would have got away with it if he didn't get a hundred votes from similar ISP numbers within an hour or two, all from the same business where he worked.

I fail to fathom the mentality of something like that. I mean honestly, what do you get out of that ? Praise for the quality of a kit you know you didn't build ? A $50 kit for free ? Your life has to be pretty freakin sad.

Hi all;
I have just looked at the contest winner thread and I agree with the majority of postings that this guy is at the very least a dishonest cheat and a thief. In my humble opinion the Shermen Dozer is a beautiful model and is deserving of the win regardless of the circumstances and the modeller is deserving of not only the prize but also an apology.

yep, I've the same opinion like mike. The sherman dozer is a spectacular build and should win the 1st place (and the respective prize)

If this theft of the model prize in anything like breaking copyright laws maybe someone can take him to court. I think that many of us in the community feel like he stole the credit from all of us. Can't imagine what motivates such people to do stuff like that? Say a prayer and kick Satan out of this guys mind............kind of makes me want to kick something else .......ya? ...........Al

I thought it's all about fun but reality turned out something else. I think there's no need for any furhter comment.

The way I understand it is this:
Someone entered the DMOM with photos of someone elses' model that he downloaded from another web site, that have been posted there --- the other web site--- since 2007! So he not only DID NOT build the model, but also stole the photos and submitted them as if it was his own build.
Now, the question I need to ask is this:
How would any of you feel if this happened to you, and is this the kind of person you want to associate with, hang out with at shows and club meetings?
I know---- from the bleeding hearts out there---- "OH it was just a harmless prank."
No bleeding heart here.....First give the prize to the real builder.....Second, ban this person from the forum.....as much as "legally" (yeah I know Dave) possible spread the word....we should bring back public shunning.
It is amazing how low people will go!!

It's not best solution... I've seen few guys here that are not active on forum but are very active when it comes to writing features or reviews...
I agree with idea of banning this person not only from forum but also from this whole site if possible (who knows who’s work this guy may steal next...)

That is pretty low. I agree with other posters above and suggest that the real modeller gets the prize.
Cheers,

At least measures to prevent this from happening in the future have already been taken, I'm surprised that nothing like this hadn't happend sooner.

Repulsively, this happens in person too. In ten years of show management, I have had to eject a guy who bought a gold-winning model from a friend of mine and then displayed it as his own 6 months later; and a guy who built while another guy painted and he entered the models in his name.
Some men are just devoid of honor.
Best,

Thank you and glad you like The Dozer. For me that's all that matters . Perhaps it would be better to not judge people but models. Simon's model looks great and I think it is worth first place. (Excuse poor English)

What level of douche bag does this? Block his IP address and remove all of his posts, or better yet, make his info public so the rest of us can spam the hell out of him with our thoughts on his douchebaggery!
