No big story here, just asking whether anyone can point me in the direction of a kit. I want to build a few different M39-series 5-ton models in 1:35, I'm hoping to build an M52A2 tractor and M54A1 cargo - as well as a modified M54A1/A2 gun truck.
Any kits out there, NOT in resin?
Thanks! Adam

Hello Adam,
M 39 is different cab and framework w/wheels because this is 2.5 ton Truck.
You can use for Gun Truck conversion set for Italeri Big foot or full kit - al from Real Model.
Here is link - my shop and my photobucket with gallery.

AFAIK, M-39 series trucks are 5-ton indeed :

Thanks for the tip - and you are certainly "spot-on", but I asked about whether any 1:35 kits of M39/M52/M54's in plastic, NOT resin.
What I had been planning on doing, since I don't have a real budget for my hobby, is to buy an Italeri M923 and a Tamiya/Revell/etc deuce and a half M35/M49/etc - and do a "chop job" with the cab and morph it into something approaching an M54 cab.
I built the Italeri 1:35 900 series 5-ton a while back, more affordable than the ~ 200 dollar resin M52!
Resin is simply a luxury beyond my schoolteacher's salary.
Again, I do appreciate the tip - but I am well aware of the resin 5-ton kits! Not interested! No deep pockets at this house!

Real Models has a few different types, some are kits and some require the italeri 5ton truck model and they are added on/modifications. You can get them from sprue brothers or from real models themselves.

Unfortunately, as Animal pointed out, there are none in plastic. His conversion article is a good way to get one w/out spending an arm and a leg on a resin kit though. I followed his conversion steps a few years ago to build the M54A1 guntruck King Cobra and it came out pretty nicely. It wasn't too difficult a conversion either.
Good luck.
