Hi everyone,

I thought I would share some work-in-progress pictures of a Panzer I'm currently weathering. It's about halfway through at the minute so a lot to do yet.

It's the old DML Panzer IV kit with all the inaccuracies. I got it for a great price as the newer kit is more desireable ! Pay attention those on a budget, this kit comes loaded with a LOT of nice extras, PE details, metal parts... it's a real bargain if you can find one marked down.

The painting of the colour modulation can be seen here on my Youtube channel

Scalemodelmedic Colour modulation video

The weathering you can see here is purely with oil paint. I have applied about four layers, seperated with a light dusting of Vallejo air satin varnish. When I apply the last layer of oils (a little more to do yet) I will not add the varnish as the matt oil surface holds pigments very well and pigments will be the next step.

I haven't even started on the turret yet !!

Anyway enough of my mumbo jumbo here's some pics to look at

thanks for taking time to look

cheers
Jon (Scalemodelmedic)

Very nice, I like the subtle blue grey tinge that show through.....I may try this on my little panzer I.

well Jon, your work is amazing. I want to try some paint modelation on a panzer i have in stash, so i'm viewing your videos regarding this matter. moreover, your channel is great and I have learned a a lot from it. I really like how you take the time to explain every step that you make with the model.
keep up the great work!

I think your CM is done very good. Subtle but still effective.

Your oil work looks very good too. I really like the messy parts around the turret.

What paints did you use to mix your panzer grey? The blueish tint is pretty cool

Hi guys and thanks for the positive comments

the tone for the base mix panzer grey was achieved using Valljo Air paints in the following amounts

10 parts dark seagreen
3 parts black
1 part Insignia blue

I have filmed other the weathering on other parts of the tank, the technique for the flaking paint is a video I'm editing up now. The oil method is already on the youtube channel.

Looks amazing Jon!

And great video, I’ll be sure to check your channel out in the future! I’ll be giving colour modulation a try myself soon as well.

Thanks guys

unfortunately the cold weather is still keeping me out of the garage so no work has gone on with this kit it should start warming up a touch soon.

As for the video - it's been very well received and the channel has really taken off ! I can't believe how many guys are viewing each day... thanks to you all, for your continued support in what is a time consuming project!

The reward is in the reception !

warmer weather - warmer garage !

Just some quick shots of the weathering done with Vallejo Pigments and their matte medium. Still a long way from finished but these pigments are working out great.

Also - the photos arent great, they're automatic shots on the DSLR with a wide aperture taken last thing, to get the best I need to set up the tripod etc

Hey Jonboy!
That is looking great. I love the fresh mud over old dry dark mud, and the splatter pattern look really natural.
Sweet camerawork too Gaffer
