Thanks for the suggestions!
I agree with your logic, JBA. 2 to 3mm it is.
Nicholas, which front do you mean? In front of the tank there will be only water and ice.

that was my question -just water and ice then -icebergs for the whole result not looking too flat?

Aha, I understand what you mean now. Well I'm going to rough up the surface of the ice like some tank has already broken the ice; so it will be very rough and chaotic. Please look at the first picture in my thread.
A little progress; Russian green base coat from Vallejo
And then a little playing around with different greens
It's almost ready for the whitewash.

Thanks JBA!
I'm going for a very thin ice so I'm thinking of using wax. I'm going to do a test before I commit. If I don't like it I will use tinted resin for the ice like your Archangel dio but of course more thin ice.
If you have some thoughts one the subject, please share it.

The tank is done.
Right now I'm slowly working on the figures.

wow , you take your time with that one Primož, but the result is worth, I love the very colourful rendering as well as the contrast between the red of the exhaust pipe and the green.
congratulations, i hope to see this diorama completed soon

Thanks JBA! I noticed that I go into details a lot more than before. I guess I'm evolving; I hope in the right direction.
I have some other project on the table so this means a brief vacation for the vignette. I will slowly prepare the figures in the meantime.
