Ok, I don't have a title for the vignette so I'm stuck with a boring title until I come up with new one. The idea for the vignette came from this picture

The picture is from Ian Allan's Hitler’s Artic War. As you can see there is a small river, with ice and snow. I want to recreate this so I placed this blog in the water effects section. So the focus of this vignette will be the frozen river.
The kit that I'll be using is T-70 from Miniart

As for the figures I will be converting Miniarts figures from the kits box.
Because the kit is pretty plain I will be using Aber set

I just started working on the model at the moment I'm cleaning the major parts

There's not a lot of parts as you can see. :lol:

Nice quick build so far. The PE is really going to improve it.

What are your plans for the ice? Parfin was, resin, painted styrene?

I was thinking parafin wax but I may go with tinted resin. I will try both methods and then choose one.

Great build... Will you be putting the T-70 into the icy water?

Theres a great Dio in Xtreme Modelling's Frozen Hell book that has a T-26 crashing through the ice into a freezing cold lake. Your dio reminds me alot of this.

Alex- I will start with the groundwork tomorrow.
JBA.- with all the aftermarket PE that's on the tanks this days you have to learn to solder so that everything holds firm when you paint it.

this look good Primož BUT take care with the borders of your diorama. Quite often it makes the difference between something okay and something really good. For the moment the plaster base looks really scruffy with plaster run offs on each side -really try to get the stuff the smoothest and the straightest possible!

Patrick, the hedge is rubberized horse hair and the leaves are from some dried out plant.

JBA. the edge is not finished yet. The sides will be hidden by wood. I'm still thinking to which height will the wood edges reach. What do you think? Should I leave the water line (2cm) to be seen from the sides?

i would suggest that you fit the wood before the water, and have it go all the way up.That way you will have something to keep the liquid resin from running off of the base.

based on what i saw from others -and what i am doing myself...
Nope, don't let the 2 cm of water being visible from the sides. I suppose people who do that will claim that it's for the water to be sort of lighten up from the sides, and also to show what a bootiful water it is.
I say, those dioramas look like you've been pouring some British mint Jelly near your panzers (if the water is green that is).
I don't really like it either when the base is level with the water because when you are looking at the diorama the "water horizon" is cut by some frame and this is no good.
What i do is to leave maybe 3 mm or 4 mm of water raised over the framing, and depending on the colour and transparency of the water I paint the inside of the framing with a more or less dark colour..
