I'm soon going to be starting a diorama based off of a level in COD Modern Warfare 2.
It will be based off of the level either the level Cliffhanger or Wolverines
I will be trying to sculp the upper torso of Soap Mactavish and kitbashin a M14 EBR as well a sculpting ski mask onto relaxed modern russian troops on patrol. in Cliffhanger. If I get really pished I'll scrap it and do the dio on the wolverines level, for which i would just get some modern US and Russian troops.
What I know for sure is that I will be building:
modern russian troops
a hardtop UAZ-469
a Ural truck
a few buildings
Dioramas
Do you love dioramas & vignettes? We sure do.

Hey Luke, ive been thinking about one of these dios too. Ive been thinking about kitbashing a Tamiya Humvee and making it into the ranger one in wolverines. I posted a thread called humvees and miniguns, theres a picture on the bottom of the page thats similar to the one where they encountered the BTR.
Hobbyfan do a range of stryker brigade and Ranger figures for the OEF and OIF time frame, i think those will be suitable for the dio, given that they are painted in ACU's. But its based on a What-If so a little artistic talent here or there wont matter.

Chris, Will do, but first i need an Xbox or a computer that wont crash everytime i run a FPS . Luke for the m14 , maybe you could get some scopes and accesories from trumpeters new m4 ar -15 series, you could use the scope as a base to make the EBR if possible.

Thanks and I have already acquired a bipod off of one of my WW2 MGs and sprue is going to make a nice supressor so all I need is a M14 and one of those scopes.
What is really going to stink for me in sculpting will be the jacket of Soap's. Are there any resin heads in 1:35 with a beanie/stocking cap on? It'd make it way easier to Sculpt Soap . And I don't even want to think about how many tries it'll take me to sculpt the rope wrapped around him and to scratchbuild the icepicks. as for Roach instead of trying to kitbash the silenced ACR w/ heartbeat sensor I'm going to give Roach either a silenced SA-80 or maybe a M4A1 SOPMOD.

Hey Luke, I would try Verlinden for some heads, because they have a wide range of styles. If you cant find any from them try hornet. If you dont already have it heres verlindens main site- www.verlindenoline.com
For the rope- first try to find a twine that will fit to scale, and then you can harden it to shape. That might work, but maybe not.
Overall dude...Good luck, I will certainly follow this one!
Later,
Johnathon

Hey Luke, Jonathon is pretty spot on about the verlinden head, they have a couple of Us OIF special forces sets that have beanie's on. For the rope, maybe you could use thin string? Theres alot of different sizes and it saves the headache of sculpting

I'm gonna do a mini dio from the first Modern Warfare. Because it is so much easier to sculpt turbans than it is a jacket.

Hey Luke if your gonna ditch the first idea, i have another one for the first MW. Where Captain Prices helps his former CPT. Macmillian in assasinating Zakhaev. Ive been thinking about this idea for a year or so, ive already got some stuff coming for this one.

Calvin thats a great idea! You could do a scene from the game where they are sneaking up on a russian soldier and CPT. Macmillian busts the guy in the back of the head, on thier way to the sniper building. Just an idea!

I'm still going to do my first idea. I'm going to do the scene from the first level you playas the Marines. But if I can get some a few M14s to convert into M21s I may do one with Pirce and Mactavish sneaking by a BMP while prone.

If your willing to buy another gun set, then take a look at the Russian company, Tank models for some unique M4's and M16's with various attachments. Also one looks to have a separate scope which could be useful for the m14. These are listed here:
tankm4 close to the bottom.
As a small aside, Calvin I know what you mean about trying to run the game, its only my laptop that can handle it, the desktop is way to slow. Do you play multiplayer?

Go with the BLAST Models's M4s. The TANK M4's have vintage Vietnam and Somalia 1993 scopes on them and are not used anymore. The TANK Para SAW is correct, but the scope isn't. Newer scopes are "zeroed" and more rugged and less prone to offset when shaken, hence why the TANK scopes are no longer used anymore. But if you buy HobbyFan figures, those guns and scopes are fine.

I want to do a "War Pig" mission diorama. Echelon has the markings but not sure if I want to do the tank correctly or as in the game.

For warpig, that tank in the game, i barely saw any tactical markings besides chevrons and i think the nickname on the bore evacuator. As for the game, no i cant play multiplayer, the movements of players and massive firefights and explosions, make my comp go rambo LOL

Luke,
The CoD Modern is a great idea. Sounds like it would also make for a fun campaign for the model-gamers in the crowd.
