Hi,

I'm planning a turretless Stuart as part of the Recce Troop of a Canadian/British Armoured Regiment. Can anyone tell me if the Verlinden 1/35th M5A1 Stuart Interior Update kit (#1562) is compatable with the AFV Club M3A3 (Kit #35053)? Looks like it might be, but I'll canvas for opinions before buying. TIA for any information.

I believe it was designed for the Tamiya kit.

Dave,

Yes, I expect that it was. However, I have no direct comparison bewtween the AFV Club kit and that of Tamiya. Accordingly, I'm not sure if the Verlinden set will in any way fit the AFV Club offering. I am sure that there would be some surgery here and there, but I'm not sure if it would be minor or major. It may all come down to simply "buy it and try it."

I haven't seen anyone try it, so "boldly go where no man has gone before" and keep us posted.

You'd probably be better advised to use the interior parts from Academy's M3A1 Stuart kit. The M5 had a different engine and drive train from the M3 series, and the drive shaft was at a different height and angle. The difference between an M3A1 and M3A3 was mostly in the shape of the hull.
