Here's my idea;

I'll be doing that one.
It's a picture of a conquered Westwall-emplacement, North of Aachen.

Tim, this is exactly what I'm planning to build I already have matching kit in my stash so this was the firt thing I thought about seeing your campaign proposal.
BTW? What's a Wilber? The only Wilber I've heard about was Ken Wilber (the one who created Integral Theory...)

Wilbur was the name of the pig in the book, and movies, titled "Charlotte's Web".

Hi to all

I'm going to replicate this scene from Lithuania at the start of Barbarossa. I have already started work on Trumpeter KV-2 Big Turret, but Tim says it's still OK and I will delay it until the formal start of the campaign.

@ HARV - thanks for explanation! I'm not familiar with this book but as a father of 2 years old boy I'm sure I will have it in my hands some day soon. I think that it’s more Napoleon or Squealer type of boar. I wouldn’t let Nazis to put their hands on piglet as cute as Wilbur .

@ Raimondas - great picture - it will look great as a diorama.

Count me in, sounds like a good idea.

I actually already did one last year. It was quite a challenge to find some of the stuff needed but it was a lot of fun. I modelled an M16 halftrack at the Remagen bridgehead.

I was thinking Green acres but that pigs name was Arnold.
Finally made my choice and ordered my kits;
Okinawa HQ Tank, C Company, 6th TB USMC

Already ordered my Tamiya and Italeri models, have to do a kit bash, along with M4A3 PE from Aber and a set of ModelKasten 3-Bar cleat tracks.
I have up until the start to figure out the best method for the concrete of the bridge and I also have my own campaign I’m keeping track of. Busy busy.
Bob

As I was checking this over I noticed something, I'm lousy at making figures so can I change this a bit and just have the original crew and portray it as just having been collapsed?

I love this pic of a Panther A command tank somewhere in the north france area... I like the fact that the tank commander is looking behind him, you can almost hear his thinking "are those P51s or Shermans catching up with me?" : )

But I dont have any more details about the pic : ( Any suggestions? i do see a "96" as the markings behind the turret.

The pic will stretch my abilities, since I am a newbie..will need to scratchbuild some details and make a figure for the first time ever. Not to mention I have never done a Dio or complex base ever! lol I do have the 1:35 Tamiya Panther A in my stash.

Hi,

I've signed up for this, and will try to do the pic below.

Tim, as I understand from the campaign rules -- its not necessary to do the background (?) I plan to model the pic sans the cathedral. Do let me know if you think otherwise. Sure would be nice to have the cathedral, but where on earth can get a model of it.

Looking for a suitable sentry-pose figure. Right now what I have seen is a GI from a DML figure kit (Advance to the Rhine) although he's wearing a greatcoat and has a rifle slung on him. Appreciate any suggestions on the figure -- should you guys stumble on anything closer, let me know. Thanks.

Cheers,

Tat

How about either of the two guys on the Left of this photo from Randy Keho in the Bitter Taste of Defeat Campaign. the figs are by S&T

Another possibility is this guy from the Miniart US MP set

Thanks James -- any and all related info is of great help. The sequence photos gives an idea where the hits went.

To anyone else interested on this event, I've also found a discussion http://forum.panzer-archiv.de/viewtopic.php?t=3548&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0&sid=f04e7083cc8367eb58f35ef079a42699. Quite a long thread but still very much alive -- have seen some pics for the first time as well. Its unfortunate I don't speak the language though.

Cheers

Tat

Thanks Pat -- it sure helps getting a number of figures to select from. Have to check on S&T's availability on my side of the world though. Not much a problem for DML or Mini-Art as the LHS carry them. The Mini-Art MP looks good -- I think this is from the set that comes with a jeep (?). Cheers -- Tat

Count me in. I should have a picture of my late Dad somewhere in service with the Dutch Army in 1953. He's doing Present Arms! with a paper pricker whilst cleaning up the camp site. In the back is a Willy's Jeep. Dress at that time in Holland was mostly American and British WWII style.
I'll give it a go.

Tat,

What, no cathredral? I reckon it'd only be about four feet tall in 1:35...

I'd suggest modifying that Miniart figure, as I haven't seen any other that would suit. You could add a Signal Corps photographer in the foreground, "creating" the image too!

I have couple more pics of the "Cologne panther":

You can always print out the cologne cathedral background and post behind your build

just kidding Tat
James, I recall one of the regular gurus on ML building that very same Panther in detail, perhaps make a post there and he could perhaps help point you in the right direction.

INCOMING!!! he-he, I was expecting to hear that anytime soon. Agree -- the Mini-Art fig looks better, probably simpler to convert (as always easier said than done). Tracking that DML 6168, so hopefully I'd get my hands on one before the campaign starts.

Exactly my thoughts James! and thanks for the clearer pics. Tried to edit it using photo software, but I guess it would be better to cut it out with a blade to get around the contours.

Cheers,

Tat

Thanks Tim! nearly fell off my chair on that first reply Appreciate your idea in coming up with this campaign as it sure gets to stretch one out of his / her comfort zone. Cheers -- Tat
