Me also I have one that is on the way.

I should finish this campaign.

I hope anyway.

Welcome Jeff !

What version do you have in mind ?

Paul

Either the Composite or the DV one the Cobra one M4A2 one I do have about 13 different ones based on the Chassis's unless they come out with something else.
Is it limited to just a Regular Sherman or Based upon the chassis's design.
Either way no problem.
Did I not read that also a Searchlight and Wrecker one coming out?

G'day Jeff !

You're free to do anything based on the chassis... see below.

All Sherman variants & those base on it's hull or chassis:

eg:

Vehicles that used the M4 chassis or hull (from Wilipedia ) :

Quote:

3in Gun Motor Carriage M10 - Tank Destroyer
90 mm Gun Motor Carriage M36 - Tank Destroyer
105 mm Howitzer Motor Carriage M7 - self-propelled artillery, aka Priest
155 mm Gun Motor Carriage M12 - GMC M12 with Cargo Carrier M30 (both used Sherman components)
155/203/250 mm Motor Carriages - 155 mm GMC M40, 8 in. (203 mm) HMC M43, 250 mm (10 inch) MMC T94, and Cargo Carrier T30
Flame Tank Sherman - M4A3R3 Zippo, M4 Crocodile, and other flame-throwing Shermans
Rocket Artillery Sherman - T34 Calliope, T40 Whizbang, and other Sherman rocket launchers
Amphibious tanks - Duplex Drive (DD) swimming Sherman. A British variant used by U.S. forces.
Engineer tanks - D-8, M1, and M1A1 dozers, M4 Doozit, Mobile Assault Bridge, and Aunt Jemima and other mine-clearers
Recovery tanks - M32 and M74 TRVs
Artillery tractors - M34 and M35 prime movers

Unquote......

I hope that makes it easier for everyone

Cheers

Hey guys, at the Huddersfield show the other week I picked up the DML M4A1 (76mm) Wet, "Operation Cobra"

I want to do it as 1st Polish AD in Holland, but don't at all fancy doing all those individual track links. So my question is, what would be the correct tracks for this version (I believe AFV club do a set of rubber band Sherman tracks?)

Hi Neil !

If you do the Polish Version in the Kit, it will be the famous "Mount" of Lt. Tadeusz Wiatkowski, called "Flying Cow". ("Latajaca Krowa" ).

See here at 1:12 in this Video ....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z64ERUyTgTU

Perhaps the figure and the mug is also in order The Crewman there is Lieutenant L. Barbarski (who is waiting for Milk )

The pictures I have show that 2nd Regiment Mk IIA's (M4A1 (76mm)'s W) in Holland in 1944 / 5 have T48 Rubber Chevrons. (they are in the kit). Some also had T62's welded onto the hull for addtional armor.

AFV have workable T48 tracks, I'm unaware of anything like a 'Vinyl' one piece (rubber) track. The workable tracks click together and at least don't need to be assembled with 'end connectors'.

Perhaps someone else can help...

Dragon DS tracks may be the best for you Neil :

I'm also considering an M-51 (6 day war) as a second project in this Campaign.

I have the Dragon Premium M-51 kit in the stash,,,,,,,,,,,

I also need an appropriate crew....

Any tips on the M-51 and an appropriate AM crew ?

Cheers

Paul

Thanks for that Paul - the Dragon DS tracks was what I was thinking of, and then I had what alcoholics refer to as a Moment Of Clarity I pulled my DML Sherman III out of the stash and robbed the DS tracks out of that, which I do believe are T48 Rubber Chevron

Any chance you could share those pics you have? I'm thinking of doing a wee urban combat diorama.

Hey Neil !

I'll need to take some of those books to work and scan them...

I'll keep you posted.

I don't think I've got pics of the "Flying Cow" in anything other than a close up though.

I'll need to break out 'Wydawnictwo Polish Militaria No, 213' and Polskie Shermany Vol II.

Hi Guys,

well here are some of what I hope to get built during the campaign.

Sherman ARV Mk I. I'll use the Tasca Firefly as the donor kit plus the Resicast conversion set . I have the interior set too, but it may or may not fit and need some adjustment.

Also to go with this I've been thinking of a Mk V Gun Tank. Again a Tasca kit and a Resicast conversion:

The third offering I'm hoping to get done is one 've had waiting for several years, the Old Italeri kit M32 converted to the British M32 BI with small hatched hull, that I have form a Dragon kit, with indies and duckbills.

.

Plenty to keep me busy here and hopefully I will get a couple built within the time frame.

Cheers

Al

Wow Al !

Some great projects there

The Resicast Multibank engine will be a challenge

I'm thinking of these:

Firefly Hybrid IC Dragon 6228
Dragon M51 Premum Kit
Tasca VC Firefly
Tasca Sherman V

There are so many others - I may change the final 3 or so but I will definately do the new Dragon Hybrid IC

Buy the kits, prepare all of the plans, and hang on until the 1st of July

Perhaps practice on a pre-campaign project

I have the same problem, although the JagdPanzer Kanone, and C2 Mexas Leopard will keep me busy for 3 months

Oh well

In the mean time something to keep me going. These are with the added cheek armour. Recommendation was to leave the additional spare wheels off.

I've been working on some alternative crew in the Figure Campaign:

This is JUST what I've been looking for, I have lots of Shermans in the stash

I may use the Dragon M51 to do the last one in IDF service (as shown in Tom Gannon's book). Or perhaps a WWII gun tank. Or maybe an early M50 on a cast hull. Or... So many M4s to choose from, my only problem will be picking one I haven't started yet

Looking forward to it!

Would you mind if i finished a Sherman Kit that is partially started rather than buying a new kit, there's no paint on, and the hull is only partially complete.

I know this is not a get it finished campaign.

Welcome Michael !

A M51 would be great - I may do one also. Hopefully I get a few done in this campaign, but only one ribbon will come my way

Dean,

Let me say this about the campaign ....

If you read the Campaign description and the requirements

they say participants are to post progress pics and finish the vehicle before the end date.

I think if any kits are 'barely' started they may fall within the spirit of building a vehicle for this particular Campaign.

So PM me with the details of how much you have done to the hull and we might be able to work something out if the % is quite low (I'll think about the cut off point for 'barely' started). Perhaps you have just glued a couple of bits together ?

Any feedback on this issue from starters to this campaign would be appreciated. I will update the rules for the campaign with a final ruling.

The problem is that 'started kits' create a grey area that may "create" some problems for other modellers and Shermie-holics which would be unfair.

Thank you for your honest question !!
