Great job Tom. Chris - I just bought the Dragon M4 DV yesterday and it is an incredible kit - much better than any of the other Dragon Shermans that I have! Stevie.

Well, this is as far as I'm going to get before the deadline. I know it needs washs, and such, but I haven't had time, or the skill to do that yet.

Great job everyone!
Raul--the tarp and sandbags turned out quite nice with some paint on them. The crossed out city names is a really nice touch. You've ended up with a nice finished product. Your co-driver looks a bit like he is intimately caressing the main gun though!
Paul--Very goog dusty effect on your Polish Sherman. The crew faces really brighten up the whole thing too and are nicely painted.
Chris--Great job on the build...looks factory perfect. Should be a breeze to paint up once you get home. Stay safe.
Tom--Very unique finish with the writing on the hull sides. Care to elaborate on the tulips? Besides adding a nice touch of color, what do they signify? I'm guessing it has something to do with Holland? Apologies if you said earlier and I missed it.
It's a shame I can't finish in time but looks like I'm not the only one in that boat. I learned a lot about the Sherman and definitely have Shermaholitis now!
Congrats to everyone that finishes and thanks to you all for sharing your knowledge about this fascinating tank with seemingly endless variations. Not to mention the numerous modeling tips and advice I picked up in this thread.
Here's hoping there's a "Get-er done" campaign sometime soon and maybe I'll earn a ribbon for this project yet!
Cheers!

Dave and Bob, I'm in the same boat! I managed to get the idler back on and secure and got a final main coat of paint on. I need to do a gloss coat, decals, gloss and Matt coat yet. I'll try to push things but I doubt that much weathering will be possible. Weather delayed the final stage of our roof repair. That in turn, impeded on modelling time. I'll do my best but, a day or two longer might help!
Cheers,
Jan
PS-Bob, we can't miss this one! It is a Sherman campaign.

Don,
I'm not entirely sure of the significance, other than seeing that flowers were often presented to the liberators as they paraded into town in NWE. I assume from the pics that they might have been a gift from the woman seen in the one shot. (How I made 'em is over on my build log...)
The graffiti is heavily layered, so I guess it represents welcomes from villages & towns along the way, with the "freshest" perhaps being added in Groningen where the pics were taken. The shots were dated a day before the Germans were forced to abandon the town, but at this point they were holed up in the town square so the tank in question might have been in an outskirt that was now deemed "safe" enough to attract visits from locals... Most of the graffiti seems to be names, rather than slogans.
Pity your own project won't make it in time. (Sounds like a few folk are in the same bind.)

Great work everyone !
Not long to go now !
I'm away for a few days until early / mid next week, so no ribbons until then. If you haven't finished and posted your pic in the gallery you have until about the 5th of July, which is when I will be assigning those awards.
Please finish and post if possible.
Cheers and good luck,
Paul

Thank you, thank you, thank you, Paul. You are a gentleman and a true scholar. At this point, I have the limited amount of camo done, the decals are on and the first of the flat coat has been applied. I have been working diligently since last evening and the bulk of today. Still a couple of minor detail parts to paint (headlights, periscopes..) and some washes but it's pretty much pushing 99%. Here's some images of the progress as of this posting.
I should be finished the last touches tomorrow and will post additional images in the gallery at that point.
Back to work...
Cheers,
Jan

Jan ,
Nice job on the breathing gear, I watched the entire build and was amazed at your ability with the small scale. I am in the process of trying to apply oil filers and washes with not too great an outcome so far.

@Bigrip74 - Thanks for the comments, Bob. I hate to say, but everything negative that I had to say about how the wading trunks go together in my review has turned out to be correct. They have been a true nightmare for me and I am glad that I never tried them earlier. As it is, I think that they were still taxing my current abilities.
@madmax5510 - Dani, I should have traded you my Sherman for one of yours. Your tracks might have been a problem but I am thankful that my Sherman's were just right! Actually, they were one of the few things that went fairly well.
As for me, everything is attached, all the decals are on and the weathering has begun. I have started the light weathering of the tracks and lower chassis. I have decided to not dirty it up too much and that it will represent a tank where the maintenance boys have just attached the wading gear in a rear area prior to it being transported to a river crossing.
As you can see in the photos, I chose to depict a lightly camouflaged version. This is one of the finishing options in the instructions and is a bit odd in that the camo did not extend to the front or top surfaces. I couldn't stand leaving it like that so I added some to the neglected areas. It's a great thing that Paul gave us more than the day or two I hoped for as problems occurred with the front stack during painting. It fell off twice during the handling. There is just not that much surface area on the PE for the CA glue to grip onto.
I am hoping to have it done by tomorrow evening at the latest. Fingers crossed!!!
Cheers,
Jan

@Bob - What I learned from this build was the level to which my frustration could be pushed. I may have managed to do this one but I assure you that I'll never look at another kit with wading trunks the same.
As far as I am concerned, I am saying that this one is done. It has been one of the longest builds I have yet to do. Enough said; pictures.
Thanks to Paul for the brief extension and for leading this monumental campaign. I never expected what I presumed would be a simple build, got turned into an experiment that would become the marathon that it was.
Cheers,
Jan

Hi all here is my contribution Its a Italerei sherman with Mig conversion kit, otherwise OOB.
It was the only Sherman kit I had in stash in 1/35. I used Lifecolour paints and MIG pigments. Best wishes Charlie

Hi Paul, I couldn't agree more. There was some really fantastic builds that went on here and this is by far the largest campaign that I had ever taken part in. I would be interested in know the numbers of how many people finished. Thanks for running this great campaign and thanks for the ribbon
