Okay...I have been getting an even higher number of "cookie-related" issues lately. People not being able to access the site, password problems, etc. Can I ask a simple question?

Are you logging out of the site and then re-logging in each visit (or even sporadically)??

If you are.... Why?? I am kind of grasping at straws here but I am trying to figure out why so many users seems to run into this problem. When it happens it means the cookie on your machine becomes corrupted or unusable. It gives the site bad info and thus you cannot enter. My point being is that I have only had this happen to me on very rare occasions and as far as I know it has not happened to many of the old-timers on the site either. So there is something that some of you are doing to exacerbate this issue and login in and out excessively may be why. Again I am just guessing but your feedback on this topic may help make me understand what’s happening.

So in short. Don't logout. Close your browser....come back later you are logged in automatically. Worried your name is always showing up on the active users list? It's not...trust me after 5-10 minutes of not being here you are deleted.

Thanks,
Jim

I have never used the "Logout" feature. Never had a reason to.
Is it possible to do away with it, thereby solving this problem?

Hi Jim

Even when I've forgotten my password, the replacement has always worked fine. I don't use the "log-out" - I either go to another site or disconnect.

Hopefully, if enough people say how they exit Armorama, a pattern will appear...

All the best

Jim, Myself being one of the many having this issue. I can say 2 things made the cookie corrupt. 1. I changed my operating system to older version of windows. This led to a new wonderful world of problems. Not just my impending cookie issue. 2. The main reason is the computers date and clock mechanism died for a short while. For some reason it was reset. Don't know why but my computer wasn't recognizing the "Cookie from the Future", since my computer was running 6 months behind the rest of the world!!! So to me and seeing it was something I , MYSELF==) DID, AND DIDN'T CHECK TO MAKE SURE ALL WAS WELL WHEN I FINISHED MY TINKERING. I need to give a whole bunch of thanks to you for helping me and let others know they need to look at their own computer before making a big deal out of something... I even think the posting of the cookie issue page to msn group page is very helpful. THANKS JIM STUG

I have never had any problems with cookies (unless we are talking about the chocolate chip kind...yum). I don't ever remember logging out of this site. There is no need to. :-)

I seldom log out, but I do sometimes toss my cookies. I then have to log back in later. I usually have no problems with the site.

I have never had any problems at all. This has to be one of the few sites that welcomes me back by name every time I show up.

I never log out and have only had to relogin manually twice since I've been here. Both times I knew I would as I periidically kill every cookie on my machine and have to relogin to everything. (it's quicker than selctively killing cookies, and a couple of job search sites I use require cookies to be on or they won't work so I can't turn them off)

Nope, never log out, just leave the site or close my browser. The only thing that perplexes me is why my damn computer (all of a sudden) started having to download every image on the page again, like its not caching it or something..but thats a personal problem.

I have ALWAYS logged out. Why have a bloody logout if I am not supposed to use it?

That said I have never had any trouble with log in. I kill my cookies after every surf.

One annoying thing is that the forum page size occasionally and randomly doubles in width so I have to scroll to read the full line but I dont know if that is you or me!

Regards Dave

No problems here and I always log out (as a courtesy?). Actually, the only minor prob I have seen when logging out is that it seems to take a while to get back to the main/login page, but I just move on before it gets there after I know for sure that in fact I am logged out.

Hi

I never log out (I gather that happens automatically after a few minutes of no activity anyway, right?), and I'm always greeted with my stupid username (old e-mail address...).

I did have some troubles when I used an earlier version of Safari. I was never able to stay logged in with that. The newest version doesn't have that bug.

Cheers
Andy

Dave, Rowan
I may be wrong but when the page size gets bigger I think it's because pictures have been posted that are over the recomended 600 pixles wide. That's what I have thought anyway :-)

Hi Mal

I thought that might be it, but my first picture posts were at 640x480 and they seemed to be automatically scaled down to 600 px wide. The effect was a bit savage, so now I always scale my pics to the right size in Photoshop, which does a much kinder job! :-)

If the page size thing is down to big pictures... how come they didn't get squidged like mine?

One to keep an eye open for... :-)

All the best

I don't log out here either. But like Porky and Kiwidave I occasionally have the width problem.

Dave,
Theoretically it's there so that if there are two members in the same household who want to use the site they can logout and allow someone else to login.

So, where is this logout button I hear so much about?

#:-)

Seriously, the last time I (intentionally) logged out was before the site design was updated. (and that feels like a loooong time ago) Even after my 'vacation' from modeling, I was still logged in. ...And once again, I am spending too much time on this site..
