Model building will drive you crazy! And I thought, choosing this over a tank would be easier to build. HAH! .. Anyway, here are pics of my work in progress, for the Barberossa Campaign Build, my first attempt at model building. Its not completed, obviously, but most of the body work is glued together. The fenders are completed but as of this time not glued to the hull. The mesh on the grenade deflector /turret has been cut and glued on, but again, not yet on the model. Other than that, the only things left to do is to attach the fenders, turret and grenade deflector and add the finishing touches, such as the wire rope, shovel, etc. Then, its a painting I will go. I have done some undercoating of various areas and parts, to make it easier on the overall painting when its completed. This is OOB (out of the box) work, a tracked armored vehicle with no aftermarket parts. for the campaign.

I think an armored tank would have been easier than this!

that's starting to look real good. Is it my imagination or are the headlights facing down and pointing in? I look forward to seeing it completed.

LOL Merk. Good to have you back with us.

Yeah. Lady Se, I think it looks overall good for a girst attempt at modeling, you had picked a difficult subject to do any open top vehicle is difficult. and for the bottom of the 222, I can see the style of Sel's outstanding dry brushing skill.

The tires can be mud up a bit at the final stage of weathering. Other than that, good beginning.

As Merk said, at least you get it done. It's the attempt that counts the most.

YES, probably so...open topped vehicles are probably the hardest.

I agree with Cliff, it looks like the headlights are misaligned. I know they're a pain to get them set straight, maybe you can mark up the side like it's been bumped out of whack.
Looking great so far though, we look forward to the finished product.

Good job Mrs.
You seem to have managed a very uniform application of panzer grey. Well done. A coat of matt varnish and some drybrushing will work more majic on this one.

M113: I can't wait to see the rest of this model, too! Now I know why Sel is half-crazy, models will do that to you, you know. Will post up new pics soon.

MrRoo: No, its not your imagination. After reading your post I had Sel look at it too. Seems I just didn't get it right. Will be trying to rework the headlights a bit. I think I was crosseyed after all the work on the drive train. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Mike: I actually touched it only once in a 30 day period after working on the drive train and lower hull. I think I need a vacation after this one.

Dave aka Davidus: I been around Selrach too long, huh? Even Sel pointed out a tank would have been easier for me. And to think, I wanted something different and thought this would be easy.

Fabio: Its getting more fun now that its starting to take shape. New pics coming soon.

Greg: I attempted to bend the headlights a little, the one headlight bent into a better position. However, the second headlight decided to snap right off, thankfully in one piece. So that baby got reglued. Of course, I did this before reading your post. I think your way might have been a little easier. Its looking better now though.

Martin: "You seem to have managed a very uniform application of panzer grey." Uh, I haven't painted it yet, except behind the wheels and a few small areas that will be hard to get to once I have other parts glued on. Maybe I shouldn't paint it then? hehehehehe I have taken your advice to heart, though and am close to getting to actually do some real time painting.

Thanks for the praise and the advice everyone. Any other ideas would be appreciated. I doubt I would have managed to get this model to this point without the gentle and patient advice of Sel. And, if anyone wants to promote "armor".. just have a beginner try this baby first. It'll be a good reason to switch to tanks.

I know Jean has really been enjoying this build :-) And in spite of me she is doing a good job

However, I must point out that the left rear looks a bit under inflated for a tire of that time peroid. #:-)
