Zis-42 army half truck. As a come back to build ,again, builder this was not an easy build. Alot of sanding and modifiying to get a good fit. Instuctions were minimal to match my skill. Im still not sure what to do with the tracks being they are 1/2" short and may use viagra on them..other tips would help! All in all I love the look of a out of the ordinary build. Im hoping to do a bang up job on the final detailing. Coments are a good thing..all help is welcome!

Hi Mate you love those odd soft skins and it's good to see. That looks a nice clean build so far and of an interesting vehicle. Sorry can't help with the tracks but I would like to know what Kit that is please?
looking forward to seeing the track problem solved and the kit finished.

Indeed an unusual and interesting truck. Eastern Express is it? Thats the problem with unusual vehicles .... no extras available. 1/2 inch seems a bit much to stretch to make fit. Maybe you could add in something that looks similar from your spares box at the bottom and disguise it with some heavy weathering or mud or both!
Is that the way the "barrell" at the front should look? Is there a bumper or something to fit or are the 2 halves not jointed right? Looks a bit weird like that!
Overall, its a well built model and would be great to have, for being unusual alone, but definately looks cool! Looking forward to seeing it painted and weathered. Nice one Pvtparts!

It is an Eastern Express...Army Half truck Zis-42. The front end is suppose to look that way. Bottom jaw is a skid plate protecting the oil pan.Top is most likely to keep debris out of the bottom plate. As for the tracks thanks for the fill in idea..Ill see what I have laying around. Cliff..I do indeed love the odd build subject matter :-)

This 'skid plate' was also a sled when in deep snow so the truck could keep moving. Another interesting fact is this truck was the reason the Germans built the 'maultier' as in winter snow & ice conditions the Zis-42 was the only vehicle able to move and the Russians used it sussessfully to attack the German lines during the first winter by loading them with troops and driving across the snow field to within walking distance of the German lines.

Nice clean Build! Looking good. As PlasticBattle says use mud to diguise the missing links. Put it in a nice muddy base with the missing links on the bottom run in deep mud and you won't be able to tell!
