Italeri's Opel Blitz for the Barb. campaign. I've used a Verlinden resin cargo set with some homecast resin crates mixed in, replaced the fender markers with wire ones....otherwise OOTB. I've just begun the weathering with a wash, the mud is what I really wanted to show you all....it's my first attempt. I wish I could have gotten a better photo of it because these don't show it as well as I'd like. I have approx 5 layers of color on the lower portions of the truck.

The glossiness you see is just my pre-wash coat of future....it'll be matte coated before it's done of course.

Greg

This is good stuff.

Your homecast resin crates are great!

The mud looks well done. Can you describe how you did this please? Its not over done, not too subtle, just right in my opinion.

Looking forward to seeing this one completed.

Hey Greg,

Awesome. I am no expert comes to truck, as WWH or Cliff might be able to testify, I hate trucks. But yours looked so great I start to like it. The mud looked dead on. I am anxious to see how you gonna do the windshield, the mirror and the lens. I see you didn't install the windshield yet, so are we afraid about masking? (obviously not a plane builder are we? J/K)

Overall good stuff.

One more thing, be interested to buy some of your home cooked craters, if you wanna sell some drop me a line, or maybe we can trade a little. Thanks bud.

Looking good !
I like the mud and the crates ! otherwise, the building and painting are very cleanly done !

Where I'm a bit surprised is by the load in the back of the truck. It gives the impression that everything is loose, and that on the first bump a few crates might fly out ! Wouldn't things have been placed ther in a cleaner way, then attached with tie-downs perhaps ? But that's a personal feeling as i'm no expert on the subject.

Thanks for the input so far everyone.
Steve: I made the mud out of Squadron green putty, smeared and globbed around with toothpicks, fingers, and a dull hobby knife. When dry I base painted the whole chassis with panzer grey, then brush painted with Vallejo flat earth. After that, I washed it with a heavy mix of paynes grey and burnt umber oils. Then drybrushed Pollyscale dirt, then lightened with a bit of white, and drybrushed again only on the high spots. I was able to take a better photo of the frame.......

Glad you guys like the crates, I can only take partial credit...all I did was duplicate them. If I was to sell them I would violate Verlinden's copyrights. I didn't mean to take credit for sculpting them.
" I see you didn't install the windshield yet, so are we afraid about masking? (obviously not a plane builder are we? J/K)"............smartass:)....correct, but that's beside the point on this one......this kit allows you to put the windows in last, hence no need to mask them off! Somebody was thinking! I'm going to mask off the wiper paths, side windows will be open, and the last thing will be a light dust over the whole vehicle.
Penpen: the photo may be a bit decieving...the cargo is actually loaded fairly neat with the heaviest/largest items on the bottom. The ammo crates on top and the small items in the open box are the only ones that would shift at all, and my thinking was that the truck wouldn't be moving fast enough to seriously toss the freight around very much given the weight of the items. I think I could find a place to tie a rope around the crates if that's the majority concensus.

Lovely Truck! Like the way you do your mud. I've always been afraid of adding mud to a model, I suppose I haven't found the right medium yet. I'm about to take the plunge and buy some MIG pigments, if they come out looking as good as yours I'll be happy!

Hey Grifter, your mud application is as good as it gets. Looks really dirty, yet none of the detail is hidden ... this in my opinion is the secret to getting it right. Nice choice of colours for it as well. I love trucks like these ...... brilliant for dios as there is so many things that they can be used for. This was the 2nd kit I ever built ... came with the flak38. Even has extra cribs for higher storage. Looking forward to seeing this when finished. Stuning already!!

Really like the truck, and the mud is worth an article, can't recall ever seeing done better. The load is good, and a tie-down or two certainly couldn't hurt
