Hello to all,

I was just wondering what the best way to get the best dirt/dust/debris effect on the ground without it looking wet when dry? I did a test using a water/glue solution with some ash and dirt but it looks wet when the glue dries.

Any suggestions from all of you experts out there?

Thanks in advance

Not an expert, but I would use pigments or grind pastel chalk dusted onto a rough ground work so it adheres without need for glue.

Thanks musicwerks, I will try that and see how it goes. I have some pastel chalk in my stash of goodies.

Spray it on-- brush it on--- dries MATT.

Goodday Grumpyoldman,

My wife has some Gel Medium in her art supplies but it says it is "Gloss". I will certainly test it out and see how that works. Thanks for the advice.

You can try the MIG pigment fixer.

Well, first off it's not Gel medium.
It's a solution that contains white glue, MATT medium, and soap to over come surface tension. All gloss medium will do is give you a glossier finish than plain white glue and water.

When I have miscellaneous shiney spots from last minute touch-ups I just airbrush on some matt finish. Tamiya's clear matt and Future works best.

Im a total noob...working on my first project myself..But I did some tests and it gave me no shine. Just made a white glue/water solution, put it in a spray bottle, sprayed a thin layer over landscape or whatever you are doing, sprinkle dirt, mud etc (
