My question is would the King Tiger have zimmerett (sp?) on it? Any help would be good.

Yes, the earlier ones did. If they were produced after September '44 they did not.

Hello Matrix. Yes Kingtigers (Tiger II) did have Zimmerit applied. Most if not all the Porche Tiger IIs had it (except the 1st prototype). The Early production Henschel Tiger IIs also had Zimmerit applied. Zimmerit was discontinued in July of 1944 (as far as I can recall) at the factory. Therefore if you were to build a later Tiger II (Henschel) it would NOT have Zimmerit. Most Tiger IIs seen during the Ardennes Offensive, in December of 1944, did not have Zimmerit on them, but surviving earlier production ones had it. Same thing was true with the defensive battles in Hungary 1945.

OK I know I'm being nit-picky but according to my references the factories were told on September 9, '44 that the use of zimmerit was to be discontinued. This is from "Germany's Tiger Tanks VK45.02 to Tiger II" by Thomas Jentz & Hillary Doyle. OK nit-pick over
