Here is my latest for the Barborrosa campaign:

I am in the middle of a move, so I haven't gotten much done on this project, but I will show you what I got so far.

To begin the project I assembled my Friul tracks first. Might as well get this tedious job over with. They went together easily without having to predrill them. The only change I made was using a thicker wire then those supplied with the tracks. One other note, they are not side specific..which is a bit disappointing.

I then moved on to the kit. I started with the suspension, and noticed right off the bat that fit and detail was not spot on. The bogeys do not align very well, and the entire assembly is a bit fiddly. But I did want I could and moved on. The Royal Models set does add some bits that refine the detail on these and I was glad to have them.

The Hull is made of separate pieces and fit together fairly well with the exception of the front plate. There was a large gap that is difficult to fill due to all the rivet detail. I did the best I could using some Tamiya putty and cleaning it up with finger nail polish remover.

At this point I was to attatch the bogey assemblies to the chassis and again the fit was poor. I am going to need to do a bit of filling and sanding. Lucky for me, I am gonna muddy this puppy up. I am modelling it after tank #132 of the 6th PD during Barborrossa and this bad boy did not get cleaned in the shots I have.

Stuke,

I hate to burst your bubble here, but a quick look into the history books will show that the Swedish Strv 103 wasn't lend-leased to Germany until 1943, just missed the Kursk battles. I don't think it will qualify for the Barbarossa campaign.

lol...guess I should read up on my history!

I just throw everything into one folder. The Strv 103 was for the Cold War campaign.

StukeSowle,

Very nice work on this so far. I also have this kit and plan to an extensive detail on it. I would be very interested in continuing to see how you get on and the problems or not that you have with the build. I have heard that the RM am set for this is good and you seem to confirm that.

Very nice work so far, keep it up!

Twig,

The RM set is pretty darn nice. I am looking forward to working on the PE fenders.

It would be nice if someone made a nice set of roadwheels as they are my biggest complaint to date. As you can see in the second pic (thanks to whomever edited it so that you can see the pics) the roadwheel is askew. I could not align it properly for the life of me, and probably should've done some trimming to help out the situation, but I didn't.

Hopefully, with some unpacking...I can get some progress pics in after the weekend.

Thanks for the encouragement!
