I have been building a diorama of a hedgerow. It will include a Sherman and a patrol of GIs, and a team of German tank killers hiding on the other side of the vegetation. Please let me know what you think of the groundwork so far. I have the pics in a progression of the work up to now. Thanks for your input

Ground work looks good, but i have to ask will your german figs fit on the other side of the hedge??? Also how is your tank going to fit into the whole thing? Is it going to attack at angle? Last question, Are you going to add some turned up earth from the passing Sherman???? gee nothing but questions today. STUG

Looking good so far. In the last set of pics where you added the foliage I can see the steel wool through the green. Do you plan to spray that brown or something similar?

Stug,
There is plenty of room for the german figs. I fitted them at the start. as for the Sherman, it will be just entering the scene at the edge, so you may not see any torn up turf (not sure yet)
Thanks for the questions and comments, sir

Boosahmer - here is my suggestion for the foliage... this technique works great to add "leaves" effects to 1:35 and 1:32 scale works.

1) Take a few used tea bags and soak them in a mild solution of various greens and browns or oranges (spring/summer vs autumn)
2) After color has saturate the bags, place them in the sun for a couple of days to totally dry them out.
3) Spray a mist of white glue and water on the existing foliage you have put in place.
4) Cut the tops of the bags and sprinke the shredded tea leaves over the glue mist. It will stick in a wonderful way!
5) When finished, spray a matt finish to "lock" them to the trees and under the trees where some leaves will fall to the ground.

Other than that, I like the concept of the diorama quite well. There is an excellent picture in "Tank Battles of WWII" that matches what you describe exactly!
