In what can be considered 'Spinning' at its most obvious, the Incredible Blogging Man has just stated (over on the MDFC Forum) that DML will announce an M7 at the Japan Hobby Show this week..
Now, usually, he's correct regarding DML releases, so there's no logical reason to doubt this - everything exists in model-form for the M7 apart from the hull, so it would be a logical step.
Good news, when and if its confirmed...

Great news, I hope it will be confirmed.

Good news indeed. I was wondering when this one would come, as you say, it's a logical step and was only a matter of time. And in Dragon's way of thinking they could release at least three kits based on this one, one with M3 and one with M4 suspension plus the kangaroo.
Cheers!

The lizard was at a certain museum in California around a year or so ago measuring the two M7's there so yes, I would consider the announcement to be valid. And guess who happens to have a photo cd with those same two M7's?

Looks like those Italeri kits in my stash will be gathering dust a little longer...
Any chance they could be persuaded to also do a Sexton?

I heard the M7 rumour from a different source that has been right in the past.
There was also mention of a new British tank though not who was making it.

oh bum
I got hold of 2 academy M7s after MrZaloga's fine build in Military Modelling in the forlorn hope that i could mirror his fine modelling skills. If DML manage to avoid the mishmash of early, intermediate and late feature mistakes made by academy then i'm going to have to wait a little longer for my accurate armour jackal2!!

I was just looking at the Academy M7 today. I'll wait and see what happens with this. I imagine they will give it the full Dragon treatment and release early, mid and late production variants, and I would expect a Sexton as well, based on British Sherman releases. If it had zimmerit they would then re-release everything again.
Maybe we can hope for the M10 and M36 one day? Maybe even an M32?

I don't want to get too carried away, but if they made a Sexton then they would probably make a 25 pounder. This may explain why the 105 MM has gotten so scarce, first the T-19 and now the M7. I'd love an M7 (if its true) but either way I've been searching without much success for the 105.

People are hoping for a Sexton but it shares very little in common with the M7 HMC Priest. Not that we can't hope...
Maybe I'll pull out that S Models resin one I have stashed away half-built....

The early, original production M7 Priests were based on the M3 Lee chassis.
The early production Sexton was based on the Ram tank which was based on the M3 chassis.
The later production M7's were based on M4 Sherman components as was the Sexton Mk. II except it used parts meant for the Canadian produced Grizzly, a version of the M4A1 Sherman built briefly in Montreal.
A new Priest from DML would be nice, a version of it's Canuck cousin would be sweet !!
Cheers

I agree, I have no M7 in my stash as of now. Of course that will change with this baby...
Mike I agree with the M37, but more because it woule mean an M24 coming our way... (BTW: the M37 truck would be cool as well... )

Any chance/news that DML will do a late model like the ones used post-WWII?

Why would they? For them, this is a 'major' development which they won't take any further. One size (as far as Allied) which fits all
Now, it this had been an announcemnt by Tasca, we WOULD have got the later version.
In fairness, this is the best possible variant possible. Don't though, expect any more variants.
Thank God for companies like Formations!

While I agree we may not see any other variants from Dragon, they go with what sells (Tigers and Panthers always sell more than Allied Subjects) At least it is better than what we had to chose from before. I'll be getting one (or more). And as you said Jim thank God for Companies Like Formations who I am sure like this news as well. I can see Eary and Late Conversions coming from them before Dragon produces them. All and all great news for those of us who like the stuff with out the cross on it once in a while.

Rod
