Hello everybody!!
This is my new vignette with this time my M8-A1 Cargo tractor from Bluetank:
A long times ago, i saw 1 M8A1 on forum built by "Plasticbattle", here is his link: https://archive.kitmaker.net/forums/139924&page=1
This post inspired me very much and i pretended that i should build another one eventhough its existence in Vietnam till in question because i did not see a lot informations about this tank. So, maybe i bet myseft if i was used in Vietnam or not but i have a lot of fun during the building...I added some details to make her more realistic as:
Track workable from AFV
Wheels and suspension from AFV
PSP steel and accessories from Verlinden
Figures from Verlinden , HobbyFan, Jaguar.
Hope that you all will like it

Hi Ha,
Not sure if it was in Vietnam either but I love the build. Great attention to detail.
Nice work!
Joe.

Hello Ha PHAM. It makes my day that my model inspired you to build this. Great job also. Love the base. I see some things we did almost similarly, but you have made this your own model. For a crappy kit, it really builds into something that stands out. Nice one.

Wow! Talk about retro! I had this one as my very first armour kit, I think Nitto made it at that time. I wish I did half as good as you did! Nice recovery on a rather meagre offering! I always thought the working suspension was cool. I still have the chassis, I think I might make it into an anti- Zombie AFV!

Nice build! It's good to see these old kits built up to current standards!
The question of whether the M8A1 saw service in Vietnam has come up before, and apparently it did not. The M8A1 was used primarily to tow the 75mm "Skysweeper" antiaircraft gun, which served briefly in the 1950's and early 60's. The hoist at the tractor's rear was for the Skysweeper's electric generator. Massey Harris built two batches of the tractors, totaling about 900 vehicles. However, the Skysweeper was quickly retired in favor of the Hawk missile system (the gun's autoloader usually jammed after the first few rounds, so few were sad to see it go). The surplus M8A1 tractors were offered as foreign aid to US allies, and a lot of them went to Japan, which is how Nitto happened to do the kit in the first place. The molds were later acquired by Blue Tank, who offered the kit in the 1990's.
There was a 1/32nd scale kit of the Skysweeper by Renwal from around 1957, and some builders have combined the two kits, despite the difference in scale (since it's unlikely either subject will ever be kitted again).

Hi
That is a very beautiful build of a too rarely seen kit.
Thank you very much for sharing.
Just as you, I happened to be caught by plasticbattle's build of the beast and had to buy one. You shot faster than I with the build ! Mine still is in its box, I got AFV tracks and road wheels for the M41, got me the Ampersand HST book.
I will depict mine in south korea, after the war, towing an 8' Howitzer from AFV Club. I will try to have the cargo bed modified to do the trick.
BTW, yours is a beauty ! Congratulations ! The figs are also very well done with a great choice. I especially like the chap w/o a shirt. Great !
Regards,
Richard

Very nice job. I appreciate your talent and thanks for posting this. Once upon a time I had this model from Nitto. I never built it and sold it years ago when I got out of the hobby. Now I am back and could kick myself for not keeping it. Take care...........Al

Hi Justin, i used 2 tons color from Vallejo : Flat Flesh, Sunny Skin tone then washed with Grumbacher oil paint. Personally, Vallejo is perfect for figure hand painting.

Thanks for the reply!
I've heard a lot about Vallejo but haven't purchased any as of yet. I'm definitely going to get some as soon as I can!
Thanks! Again, your stuff looks amazing!

Fantastic Nam dio- love the stowage and the scene looks 'busy' without losing anything from it.
