Hello Everyone!
I thought I'd share some half way done pictures of my latest diorama.
It's the 1/72 scale Italeri SU 152 with some homemade stuff and a barell from RB.
What remains is a new colour for the fence (light blue grey), blending the tracks
with the groundwork a bit better, getting some more contrast in the roadwheels and
a few figures on top of the tank...
Hope you like it so far...
Cheers

Another fantastic build, well done. How did the Italeri kit build up? I have full intentions of buying one.
BTW, where did you get 1:72 bricks from? They are scarce as hens teeth in braille scale.
Cheers

Damm it!
A really nice painted vehicle. I like that you started to add homemade details as you have with this and the recent Pz III. It gives them more life and more personality.
Only drawback is that the Duschka is a lite bit hefty but thats Italeris fault and I dont know of any replacement in 1/72.
All the best.

Thanks Mike!
The Italeri kit is actually quite good. Nice details and good fitting parts so I recommend it very much indeed. The bricks are from a company called Juweela (not sure about the spelling) which I got from Milan at Tracks & Troops.
Glad you like it Mike.

I have come to the conclusion that doing your own parts is both necessary and fun. It's a bit hard on the eyes sometimes but in the end well worth the effort.
The Duschka as you say is hugely overscaled but I think there is a company that makes a replacement in white metal and PE. If I can find it in time before the magazine deadline I will change it.
Thanks for your comments!!!

By the way, have you seen this figure-range? Even it they are in 1/76 I think they could be of use for you in your little scenes?

Yeah they are among the best ones around and I frequently use them for my dios. The Pigs of War was made with Milicast figures. They all have good poses and shape and even though they are slightly smaller than 1/72 they work very well as long as one doesn't mix them with other manufacturers.

Thanks Johan!
As I mentioned I will do some minor changes and some figures and then it will be ready...
The complete and finished diorama will be featured in Military Modelcraft International Magazine in October with a complete step by step of how it was done.
Cheers and thanks again!!!

Couldn´t agree more. As well as adding individuality to the model, it also raises the detail level which allows for adding contrast with colours. Little simple items like the brown belt in the hand rails makes a big difference.
Another stunning model Sven-Åke. The painting and weathering are excellent. Looking forward to the figures being added!!

Thanks Frank!!!
In this scale we always have to struggle with the detailing. Although many PE and resin aftermarket products are available, there's always something missing and to be able to do those things yourself is very satisfactory indeed. And doing the odd detail in a "way out there color" also hightens the effect of the model.

Sven-Åke,
EXCELLENT! The scratch detail work. The painting and weathering. The ground work and broken fence. All are of a masterful level and very well done.
If you can replace the Duschka with a realistically scaled one, practically everyone would mistakenly think this is a 1/35 scale diorama.

Sven-Åke,
Tracks & Troops.com has two DShK AA MGs available that you might be able to alter and install on your SU 152.
One is from
Armory.
Another is from
Mini World.
I hope this helps...

Yes, the fence was kind of strange when it was all green but now I think there's a bit more life in the scene...
