Hi all.
I've finished my Tamiya 1/48 Panzer IV ausf.J.
Nothing special. Just OTB and added some camoflage branch.
I know 1/48 is not so popular amang modeling community but it was fun.

I like 1/48 and your job looks real good, couldn't tell it was 1/48.The muffler came out good, and I like the weathering. As a Suggestion, maybe some rust on the spare tracks though.

PS we are having a 1/48 Campaign starting in September, check out the Campaigns tab, sign up and have some fun.

1/48 is my favorite I would agree a little dirt and grime on those tracks would blend in better. Very nice camo painting. Cheers

Thanks Greg!
Yes, I couldn't agree more.
Those spare tracks are little too shiny compare to other parts, aren't they? What was I thiking?
I am going to build some allied tanks for the 1/48 campaign. Telling the truth, I really love allied AFVs!

It came out great. Is the foliage PE? I'd probably use natural products for foliage, it will look more realistic. I haven't tried 1/48 yet, but a 1/48 scale campaign just might be the motivation to try it.

Hello Brett!
Thank you!
They are not PE. Those leaves are paper and the branch is brass wire.

I thought about using real ones but they are too big to put on 1/48 scale tanks so I made them myself.
By the way, 1/48 kits are small enough for weekend building but still big enough to add some extra detail work.
Why don't you give it a try? Hihgly recommended!

Hi Tadakatsu. Technically this is really well done ... not much to complain about.
From a personal point of view, this model lacks life. The base yellow is very monotone, offering no depth to the details. Some light "fading" or dry brushng would give this a huge lift. I like the foilage, but theres a lot and the only thing that breaks the colours and adding contrast. A tank in combat would have some other signs of life, personal stowage, etc. The tow rope is very poor detail-wise.
Sorry for sounding negative ... just trying to offer an opinion and some constructive critism. You have definately talent. The camo shows this. Take it a step further, and you´ll have an awesome model.
Scale doesn´t matter ... choose the one that suits you. Its the finished model that counts. Look what Sven-Åke does in 1/72.

Hello Frank!
Thank you very much for your honest opinion.
I am pleased to know that you see my model seriously.
Yes, I was wondering why my model look so "dead" to me and I didn't know what to do. I'll keep your advice in my mind and make my next model more "living" like.
I raelly appreciate every word you wrote.

I'm actually a fan of 1/48 scale armour, the kits have an overall fun appeal to them that is not present in the other scales.

From a lot of the reading I have done, it seems that colour modulation would really enhance your model. Most people feel that this technique's attributes are best represented in 1/48.

If you continue modeling in 1/48, then I would very much like to watch your skills progress as you build more kits.

Hello Jeremy!
Thank you for your comment.
I am very pleased to find another 1/48 fan.
I have been building model kits for little over 25 years but most of them are sci-fi stuff(You know, GUNDAM etc... ) or aircrafts.
Although I have plenty of 1/35 AFV kits in my stock but they are far from complete. So I thought maybe I could train myself by building 1/48 kits but building them have changed my feeling toward them. Now I am a big fun of 1/48 and I will keep working on them.
