Hi all, here are some photos of my latest work. A Panther G from the 11th Panzer Division serving in Bavaria during the last months of World War 2. This is a M.A.N. Panther done in their 2 tone paint scheme of mainly Dark Green with Dark Yellow as the secondary colour. Still learning to take pictures sorry if the pictures are not magazine worthy.
Neat to see there is another build happening here of a Panther G from the 11th Panzer Division during the same period. Got to love those Panthers.
I don't want to do Tank 421 as this is tank that DML has the decals for. Her sister Tank No. 411 had the Schurzen on the side but I don't have the decals to do this one as I only have one set of 421 decals. Still need to figure that one out. Perhaps someone has a spare set they would be willing to part with?
What has been done.
Base coat
Filters
Dry Brushing and some slight colour modulation
Tools
Tracks
Stilll to be done.
Touch ups
add fire extinguisher
Gloss Coats
Decals
Weathering
Crew Figure
Let me know what you think.

Your kit didnt come with two sets of the 421 decals? I have the same kit, it came with the 421 on the main sheet, and a smaller separate sheet with it and another number on. ( Id offer mine up, but owing to a paint blunder I had to use them.
Also, the numbering it self is simple enough, have you considered just hand painting the numbers?

Yes the kit does come with two sets but If you look at the decals closely you will see they are two difference sizes which unfortunately will not work. I might consider painting them on but I might also look around for a stencil or a decal set that is similar.
Cheers,
David.

Very nice build Dave ... very neat and good job with the etch. The paint job is already starting to look the buisness ... a perfect base for some nice weathering.

Very cool build, Dave. You got some really nice details into the kit and the camouflage is very attractive. Looking forward to see more when weathering begins.

Really like all the etch work you did. I'm still learning from this site, and it's cool to see all the details before the paint-- kinda shows me the length that one can go to to make an awesome model!

Well, I have been putting some work into getting the 11th Panzer Division Panther completed. Here's a few pictures of my work to date. I still have to complete the commander figure and do a few more touch ups but I am almost there.
I have seen a number of Final Panther G's done as 421 from the same Division and was going to do this tank as well . 421 is also the subject of the DML Final Panther G kit kit but as I was doing my research I came across a picture of panther 421 in a depot after the war that included her sister tank, Panther 411. So I though it would be cool to do Panther 411 instead.
Hope you like it.

really great job on that Panther Dave. seems the Canadian modeler community is in full force with your contribution. very clean work with the PE and the weathering looks top notch from here. the only thing i would like to ask is the barrel end appears to slightly point upward in relation to the barrel itself, is this just in the pics?
it appears most evident in the first pic of this thread. i find the camo pattern is well implemented and followed through with great touches. super job all around. cheers, mh.

Hi Meaty, thanks for the feedback it is much appreciated. I believe it might be the picture. Here's another shot of the panther from the right side. Let me know what you think. Looking at it in person it looks straight but who knows. In the build pictures the break is slightly upturned as it wasn't seated properly. I corrected it before painting but maybe not enough?
David.

Frank, Rob, Justin and Brandon.
Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. Glad you guys like it.
Still have a few more things to do. One of which certainly is taking the micro mask off the periscopes that I painted on when painting the turret and hull.
Cheers,
Dave.

Dave,
Great build. Big fan of the Panthers. I notice that in your weathering stage, you added rain drag marks(?) in a whiteish color. In the future, I would suggest using the same technique BUT run them from bottom to top instead of top to bottom. Rain tends to drag small particulate debris downward and collects in a wider patern towards the bottom of a vertical surface. If you happen to notice construction equipment on the Q.E.W., take a look at how the rain marks appear on them. I know construction equip. is not a tank BUT it can serve as a full color 3d reference for how the elements alter the color of a vehicle that spend it's life under rain, snow, and heavy foot traffic.

Ian, thanks very much for the feedback and the rain marks suggestion. I will give it a try some time. Your suggestion makes a lot of sense.
Cheers,
David.

Steve and Paul, thanks for the comments. Much appreciated.
I painted this cat by hand ,though i used my airbrush to give it a very light mist of diluted Tamiya buff and earth to give it a bit of a dusty look.
All the best.
