Hi fellas,
I've managed to pick up AFV Club's M49A2C (#AF 35007) fuel tanker at a pretty good price & now I'm looking for the PE set from Eduard that goes with it.
Can anybody help me locate one (or even 2) of these PE sets? The kit part number is #EDU 35124. I believe this item to be OOP at this moment so any help here would be very much appreciated guys.
Thanks.
Joe.

Just a little addition to the above message that I thought I ought to add.
I apparently 'purchased' a couple from Jordi Rubio hobbies of Spain just over a week ago but I've heard nothing fom them. I have paid using a credit card & the order states that it is pending but this has gone on for 10 days now!. I've tried emailing them twice but they have not replied to my requests. Has anybody had dealings with this company & if so, what was your impression of them?

Hi fellas,
Thanks for your responses.
Miloslav, thanks. I've PM'd you in return. Fingers crossed, eh?
Frenchy, I tried that site before I posted on here & they wanted 20.72 Euros to ship 2x PE frets from Italy to England! Are they having a laugh, or what? I know this hobby can be expensive sometimes but that is taking the biscuit!
Juan, thanks for the heads up on Jordi Rubio. It is very strange, isn't it? According to the site at time of purchase they had 2x PE #35124 & I paid using my credit card. Since then, I have heard nothing! Jordi, if you're reading this please let me know whats going on!!

I built this kit when it first came out and I did it just OOB. I personally think that it came out very well without PEs. I think the details are very good that you will not find a need for the photo etch.

Juan,
Yeah, I know what you mean. It's typical isn't it. Although to not answer both my emails is a bit strange, dont you think? I'll keep trying anyway & see what happens. Mabye the guy's on holiday.

Noli, I'm sure it does build into a nice model but unfortunately, I'm a little difficult to please. If I built a model knowing full well that I could make it look even better then I just wouldn't be satisfied, my friend.
Thanks for your input guys.
Joe.

Hi

At the risk of stating the obvious and what you've possibly already done before placing the order, did you try Hannants and LSA Models. Both are big stockists of Eduard PE and I've found they manage to have what I need.

http://www.hannants.co.uk/ Nice shiny new web site but I've found the search facility doesn't always find what you are looking for despite it being in stock. Worth a phone call or email.

http://www.lsamodels.co.uk/ Best to give Jason a ring or email to let him search.

Hi Juan,
I really appreciate your help. Coincidentally, Jordi Rubio has sent me an email this morning. Mabye you put a rocket up his a$$ to get in touch with me!
He said he has only one PE fret but will get another in 2 or 3 weeks from now.
We shall see.
I 'll keep you posted & let you know how I get on.
Thanks again, my friend.

Miloslav,
Thankyou very much indeed for sending the Eduard M49A2C PE sets through for me. It is very much appreciated, my good friend. (PM inbound).
Juan, I cancelled the order at Jordi Rubio as I thought the level of customer service was pretty poor IMHO. After a string of emails I didn't get a single reply!
Oh well, at least I have the PE sets now from a tried & tested seller at Realmodel!

I would say they came about in 1967 or very early 1968. Reason I say this is that the ones I saw looked tobe be in near new condition (keep in mind that they were not a common sight out on the road). That being said, I don't think it would have been kosher to kick out the windows and beat up the fenders

Hey Gary!
Always nice to hear from you!
Okay, has the M49A2C always had the vertical exhaust stack or is it the same as when the M35A2 arrived it had the horizontal setup?

Hey Juan!
I'm afraid Jordi Rubio let me down on this one, my friend.
Still, I managed to obtain a set of PE from a good friend of mine!
I'm having a new work bench fitted so my airbrushes aren't set up to paint at the moment so I thought I'd start the M49A2C build while I'm waiting.

Joe,
You just don't understand! A 19 year old ain't looking at exhaust pipes if he's back there where the M49's roam. He's headed to the ice house/laundry/female depositry, and from there he's going to the PX (and maybe a return trip to the ice house again). My guess would be horizontal

Joe,
I think if they had 49 charlies in vietnam they wouldn't have the large stacks. I think that came in the late 70's. That was when the turboshargers were added. Did you ever paint your cargo truck?
