Well started that rascal yesterday.
Should be a quick build no tires and about from the one site I have seen one is the welds missing at a few places so should be good and fast on this one.
Then the Pak 38 5 CM is up to the plate.

This is huge, I didn't know that they had one of these in this scale. I like the choice of skis, assuming they gave you a choice between skies and wheels. This'll look sharp with some nice weathering in this scale.

Yep 1/6 scale does not come with wheels but I found a set from the DID Nebelwerfer so I have them coming the spoked type.

The spoked type will look good in this scale, I look forward to seeing them.

I think the tires will look good also.

Only thing is the breech keeps falling open so I think a little glue will fix that problem.

Also the barrel is quite heavy Aluminum but still heavy and well I guess would be better to glue it in place to the carriage.

Mine is super glued in and well will not go no where for now.
Strange they did not give something to hold the carriage on.
I think I might just glue the carriage on.

Can't wait to get the tires then just make up some hubs and off to a base for the thing.
Quick build indeed 4 days total.

Painting will take awhile though.

what did you use for the weld beads?

squadron green putty?

Green stuff is what I used.

I tried epoxy sculpt but to sticky and I did not feel like messing with it and baby powder as would not roll real good.

So gave Green stuff a try.

You still need to use baby powder they say Petroleum jelly which I do use when making tarps for Sherman's but on this I tried Baby powder and it worked out pretty good.

This is really an excellent build, Jeff! You know, I came really close to buying one of these from my LHS a few months back but thought that it may look too much like one of the 21century toys so I put it down. Sure enough I am regretting it now. It really looks superb and you're doing a fantastic job on it!

An easy kit really not much needs to added from the only pics That I have seen except a few welds.

The tires arrived today so a stripping and some paint then we can back on the thing.

Back to the question easy get some of that Green stuff and roll a ball not a big one and what I did is use Baby powder instead of Vaseline to keep it from sticking where I did not want it to, after I rolled a snake in my hand I then applied it to where I wanted it to be and then used some baby powder to keep it from sticking to my X-acto knife blade I made slices into it to simulate welds..
Just keep a little baby powder on a piece of something or it will stick to your blade push it into place then you can make it any size by trimming with a sharp blade.

Try it easy really.

Actually I bet any two part epoxy putty will work.

I have tried Epoxy sculpt but I had too much mess with the stuff I walked away from it.

You were right about those tires Jeff, they are going to look real sharp on this kit.

I like your technique for using the Green Stuff. I've never used it before, but many of you guys really have a lot of good stuff to say about it so it looks like I'll be picking some up when I get the chance.

Trying snow

Looking good Jeff. You definitely know how to make good looking bases.

Looking good there Jeff. What are your intentions in regards to the base? I'm taking a guess that you are going to either be painting it white or adding a fine layer of snow to it, but that's just my guess.

Also looking back I realized there are what appear to be threaded studs for mounting the wheels on. A nice touch for sure, and I was wondering if they are functional?

Now the question a figure or not?
In this scale where there is real material well they look decent,but the heads always seem to have a dead stare.
I have seen many that were done up beautifully though.
A good repaint of some Head sculpts or a Tony Barton head would bring any figure to life.


So the question is again a figure or not.

With one and of cause I would use the winter coveralls.
