Great start Frank, very simple but yet effective. I like the plumbing and electrical work, can't wait to see the rest.

I agree Frank, great start so far. I especially like the electrical box as well as the water? pipe on the wall. It's the small things that can really bring a scene to life IMO.
Great work so far,

All the cork I've seen used, you're the first to go three wide and not have some type of middle layer exposed as 'stucco' type stuff. Nice Job.
The details are great too.
Keeping an eye on this (especially the track locators)

Hello Franck,
Nice start, and very well done plumbing !
Does the top edge of the front wall doesn't look too regular ?
Best,
Julien

Just read "The Assembly" for the full story- very clever use of cork Frank. I like all the pipework details too.

By looking at twice, and it's just my theory, the wall would be broken or damaged where the pipes are broken on the right side ?
Lastly, will you fill the gap between the bricks ?
Best,
J

Thanks again guys. All your very kind comments are appreciated very much. Im glad you like it.
Hi Julien ... yes you are right. Originally I was going to have the figures here and was going to add some extra bricks so that the figures would conform to the wall and Brummbär in this position. Janne Nilsson visited me at the weekend and after to talking to Janne, I have moved the figures to the back hull instead. The wall will be made more irregular before grouting.
Hi Prasert. Please click on the links to my blog. There are more images and explanation there. See the T34 blog also. If you have further questions, please ask.
My theory depends more on where the blast happens. Bricks will shatter in the weakest place ... between each brick ... but metal pipes could break anywhere along the length. If the blast was further over and blew out the pipe, it would break further back when the angle gets too much, and not just where the blast was? I have no evidence or knowledge of such things either, and not saying you are wrong here. It doesn´t really matter as it is behind the Brummbär and not really seen. Its a detail for details sake and me having fun.
The walls will be grouted with spackel as it would be in reality. Thats why gaps are left between each brick ... deeper than what needs to be.

Looking good Frank.
Know it will be a dandy indeed.
The model built already?
Now you need to get you into 1/6 scale.
Good job.

Thanks for that Frank, my only real question (so far !) is where do you get the cork for the bricks? Is it just the tiles you can get from B&Q and such ?

Thanks Jeff. I´d have to get permission from "her indoors" to bring home a 1/6 model. I dont have any shleves big enough.
Andy ... the cork I buy is from Ikea ... 4 sheets to a packet, and meant for table placement service. The cork grain is very fine ... not big and chunky like you see in some. Any cork will do though if you have a sharp knife. Its also 2mm thick.

The next addition to the scene is the figures. One Tamiya and one from Legends. More images and text can be found HERE.

The inspiration to work with cork came from you. Ive always loved your in progress buildings and ruins. Hope to see more of them in the future as well!

Hi Franck,
Great work so far, I particularly like the industrial and pipe details on the back.
Thanks for sharing.
Alexandre.

Hi Frank
Great work as always. I recently brought the Legend figure you used and thought to replace his head with a Hornet one but was a bit worried as the original one looked small and didn't want to end up with a "Thunderbirds" figure but you've shown it looks fine.
Look forward to seeing this ones progress.
For an alternative supply of cork people could also try Model Railway suppliers. They do cork for laying under the track. Available in strips or on a roll. Quite nice fine grain. Not sure if it would work out cheaper than the Ikea solution but then again if I go to Ikea it'll cost me more anyway.

Thanks Alexandre and Alan. Your comments are appreciated.
Im glad the "industrial touches" went down well. Id like to build a big factory/industrial setting with an action scene someday. This is just a beginning.
Alan ... the Legends figure is a beauty! Some of their figures were very under-rated .... and little improvements like a hornet head makes them top class. Problem was that they also had some "not so nice" figures. So you really got see them first hand to know.
