I have a Zvezda BTR-70 kit I had thought of making into an Iranian Army version. Why Iranian? They have been in the news lately with their nuke program. So far, I haven't been able to find much information on Iranian equipment so far, as to color, marking, modifications, crew, etc. Anywhere I haven't looked yet? Thanks.

Nice pics but unlike what state their file names, those are BTR-80s not 70s.

If my memory serves me right Iran never had any BTR-70. Someone else that can confirm?

If you are correct, Wikipedia's article on the BTR-70 is wrong. (It claims Iran has 1000 BTR-70's.)

Wikipedia can not be wrong? Do you still believe in the tooth fairy? If Iran had 100 BTR70s, let alone 1000, they would have showed up by now. Everything else in their inventory has.

Well, as I stated, it is RUMORED that Iran has the BTR-70. Numbers truly unknown but the US and European military intelligence agencies still list them as possibly having them, with question marks behind the listing (so to speak). They would not be much of a tacticle or strategic asset these days, but if M.I. is willing to give them questionable existence, I am willing to keep my eyes open for pictures.
And Iran still pulls out a few surprises every now and then...how the heck (or why) they are "hiding" 100, let alone 1000, BTR-70's is beyond me and far beyond what I would speculate.
Hey Tom, go ahead and make one in Iranian service for fun if nothing else.

Yes I know Wikipedia can be wrong. As for the tooth fairy, I guess if he existed you would have been rich by now.

Nah, If Iran did have them they'd probably be used only for training. I'd rather do something somebody might fight against.

According to my sources in Iran were only BTR-40/50/60.
And there was not Iran's BTR-70, and there were no nuclear weapons in Iraq, lied about what intelligence the U.S. and other countries invaded Iraq. Nuclear weapons - has been far-fetched pretext for the invasion of an independent Iraq.

Yo, who ever said that Iraq had nuclear weapons? They did have a nuclear plant that was bombed by Israel in 1981 though. They also had tried to build a gigantic gun that could have fired shells at Israel, which was found out when the Iraqis tried shipping the barrel companents through Europe.

Back on topic, the BTR-70 is still listed as possible in Iran...I am guessing from a possible sales report that never went through. My guess is it would have been when Russia was going to sell the Iranians the T-72S, before that deal went south.
And it is not like Iran is a open place with easy access to military equipment...
