This is getting really good Guy, I'm impatient to see the paint on it though...

Cheers,

Hi Guy,

More good progress. I was down at IWM Duxford today and took some reference pics of the Comet. I think you would have been OK leaving the part, also the tracks are very tight, no sag.

Keep up the good work.

Thank you for showing these photos Alan ! This is so typical for the Comet.

What I mean is, when I see 10 Comets, they all have different small details.

In this project I try to stick to the Comet MKI A, like Celerity, but I must say

that it's easy to make mistakes, there are practically no clear pics from WWII

Comets. Most walkarounds show postworldwar II tanks.

To sag or not to sag, that is the question ! I have many photos of both...

My tracks will have just a bit of sag.

Thanks again Alan, showing the pictures was very kind of you !

Thank you Terry, this Comet is practically ready for painting. I've switched to my Panzer I A Late to finish it. The Comet story will be continued in a week or two.

Thanks in advance to you all guys.

Hi Guy,

Excellent work, have you seen the New Resicast kit? If I was a better builder I'd be very tempted.

Look forward to further developments.

Hi Guy,

I've been following this closely and love your work. Really looking forward to seeing this one completed and painted. I've just bought the kit, replacement gun barrel and gun mantlet so hope to start on it soon myself.

Best,

Gordon

Good luck Gordon and have fun, in fact the kit is just great but to build an accurate Comet, reference pics are very useful.

The Comet arrived on my work table again after more than one year, time to finish it now.

After priming and a thin layer of black I can start airbrushing the greens.

Guy,

An excellent blog, I'll bookmark this one for when I get to my kit.

Amazing how time goes by.

Cheers

I'm late to the party, but grateful to be able to subscribe. Guy's fine detail work on the tool mounts, antenna base --- even texturing for the scratchbuilt sandbags --- is fascinating. I look forward to more of your fine photos, Guy. Keep up the great work!

Alan, thank you for picking up this thread again !

Fred, thank you, the build was fun to do and since the painting started I really enjoy it.

The first green mists sprayed on the body :

A couple of lighter tones airbrushed on :

Gun mantlet cover painted in its base color :

Decals, satin gloss finish (Tamiya Clear heavily thinned), and after subtle oil paint dot method was done, color filters on the wheels :

Next stage is adding dirty washes and pin washes.

Best regards ! G.
