Hi, gang, Jim Starkweather and the folks at Stevens International were kind enough to provide this sample of Trumpeter's Voroshilovets Tractor for a build log. Here are the first images:
The kit comes in Trumpeter's usual pasteboard boxing with the parts nicely separated into bags and the hull tub, cab and tarp as separate items.
Unlike the T-34 with its combination road wheels and return bogeys, the Vorshi has a huge array of road wheels and bogeys. They're mounted on four enormous cast arms:
OK, that's as far as I've gotten right now.

You know me too well, Frank, LOL. Was just down in my stash this AM putting away some AM goodies in kits there (QuickWheel masks as a matter of fact).
But to answer your question, yes, this one will be OOB. To my knowledge, there aren't any AM upgrade for this kit, though I could be wrong.

Hi Bill
Nice to see this kind of kit right here! I like the russian artillerie tracors and i think Trumpeter did a good job. Back in the last years we can only buy some very expensive Resin kits of the Voroshilovets Tractor and now we can buy this kit.
i look forward to see the kit grow up!
Cheers

Hi, thanks for the images.
But, is there another build-log of this gun?
A I remember, I read another one of this kit... including in-progress-images.
greetings...
Soeren

Hi, Soeren, I don't know anything about a build of the gun. I received only the tractor, Sorry.
Jim Rae, the original reviewer, has a build log of the tractor here.

"The gun" - yes, youŽre right.... thank you very much for this tractor!
I had problems with the names and "who made which one".
Yes, I meant this build log... and thanks for the link.

One AM item we need for this and the B4 is a ammo load.....Mini-Art did the whole range of Russian Ammo upto the 152mm....we need them to do the 203mm to load up this tractor .......
I know the bed has benchs(I have the kit)....but some ammo boxes would look good there.

Oh godie, godie!! Friuls just double the actual weight of these beasts, so that they really are "heavy".

I'm glad to see everyone is stoked about this kit!
Yes, some ammo boxes would be a welcome addition, along with Friuls (don't know they'll be out in time for this build, so I'm already working on the kit tracks in styrene). Does anyone have photos that could be used to scratch ammo boxes?

Was hoping someone would start a log. I will be watching this one eagerly, as I too plan to eventually get to a B4 + tractor combination.

Yes, a "tractor plus gun-combination" build-log would be fine!
Perhaps in a nice diorama. (with a bit of landscape)

Time for some new photos!
The running gear (I will regret the lack of movement on the bogeys later when painting them):
I hate styrene track, so I'm working on it in stages...
The end...
Not really, here's the seat:
The cab-- easy to imagine this thing on a collective farm in the Ukraine about 1936:
The driver banged into something and wrecked the left headlamp:
Does anyone know what these recessed are? I presume some kind of lamp or light, but I'm stumped. They have a clear cover to come later:
Now for the load bed:
The cab interior mounted to the body:
More in the next day or two.

Thanks, Kimmo. It looks like a good set, but not essential IMO.
Here are today's pics-- painting the interior (because the doors & windows will be shut):
Masking the cab:
After some gray primer, the black highlights coating:
Just because the T.A.R.P. program is over, I can't forget the tarp :
Now the tarp w. a coat of Tamiya Khaki brown:
The load bed is going to get the hairspray treatment, so I begin with a base of Tamiya buff with some dark umber dry brushed oil paint, then set it aside to dry thoroughly:
This photo's a little shallow in depth-of-field, but it shows the tractor with its Soviet green coating of paint:
That's all for today!

Hmm, perhaps another reader has plans like this one.
I have no money for another kit.
My last buy 2 days ago was DragonŽs new s.10cm K18 gun. A build-log is in progress.
greetings and thanks for the update of your build-log!
The effect of the black high-lighted parts looks good and gives a good deepth!

Thanks, Soeren, here are the updates for today:
The wooden load bed's grain is waaaay out of scale, and the diligent will consider filling it in and then using paint (oil streaked on top of acrylic) to correct, but I have let the paint do the filling-in:
After painting the wooden slats, I protected with acrylic flat. A quick coat of hairspray and paint followed that, after which I brushed away the paint under hot water with an old toothbrush:
After touching up some spots where the hairspray removed too much paint, the bed is ready to go onto the vehicle:
Here is the finished vehicle-- Berlin, 1945 after a long slog through Poland and eastern Germany:
The tarp up with stains, broken windows covered in cloth, tears and dust:
It's been fun. Thanks to Jim Starkweather for providing the build kit. Any questions??
