Nice work Alan - and thanks for your work overall on this site.

Did the Austin Tilly have sun visors? Like you, I looked into the engine compartment of the example at Duxford this year, and not into the cab. In the few pictures I have and all my reference material none show sun visors in the down position. One poor photograph shows something either side of the central mirror, but I think these are the window hinges. A quick trawl through the manuals on the Tilly Register also failed to produce any obvious sign of such a fitting.

Hi Folks, A quick question, are there any post war Tilly photographs in civillian service ? It would be fun to do something not in green for a change.

Don't think I have any pics myself, but check the Tilly Register and let Google be your friend.

Just a heads up on the interior; No mirror required, the war time version didn't have one and there was a sun visor on the drivers side only. Info courtsey of Mike Shackleton of the said Tilly Register. Link below:

Hio Guys,

When the vehicle had no off side headlight does any one know what the fitting is?

Is it just the left overs of the removed light or something else?

Thanks

Whilst I await to see what the above fitting is, does any one know what the marking of a REME Tilly from 14th Canadian Army Tank Regiment (The Calgarys) might look like?

Did they have REME markings at that point?

Thanks

Sorry can't help with your question Al but I have one of my own. What did you use for the cab roof interior- Putty? or something else?

Hi Pat,

I cut out a thin plastic shape and glued it in, but I pressed it to hard and it left the impression of the wheel rim, so i filled that in with some putty. It was a cloth cover I believe so it needs some texture.

BTW the end of a sten gun works well for the shape of the fitting on the RHS and the butt of the sten will give you the base for the missing mirror. The mirror I've just fitted is a bit tall but I might just leave it. Some pics when the light is better.

Cheers

Hi folks,

Bit of an update on last night progress. Added the light bar and mirror. Test fitted the doors and filled in some sink marks on the inside. The doors come with handles fitted on the inside so it's up to you if you want yo replace them with something more 3D or not, that will most probably depend on you intended finish.

Greeting folks,

A bit more porgress, I've marked it as a vehicle from 6th Armoured Division as I though it might go with my Valentine Mk II. But , I have a feeling I should have used a white 99 on black for the earlier war period so it migh become a 1NY vehicle!!

Hi Guys,

Well that's the main build about done. Some thoughts on the kit; it's a cracking little vehicle. Main bits missing are the external mirror, and internally the rifle, pick and shaft. Some of the parts are very small and fragile so take care when building and don't loose an to the carpet monster. I would be good if you got 4 door handles and not two I lost one and had to raid another kit.

The decal options should be correct so this one will go with my Valentine. I intend to drop the tail gait and still have some stores, webbing and the like to add, plus the weathering to do, but this is a fun and not too expensive build with lots of finish options.
