There is a plug for a circular hole in the bottom of the Academy 35th Merkava 4 hull. Is this just to fill a motorization hole or does it represent some sort of hatch. I wanted to check before I puffier it over. Thanks.

Hello,
I recently built this kit, and I filled it. From my knowledge, it doesn't represent anything, but I could be wrong. The hatch is located at the very back. Hope this helps.

Yep, it's just a motorization hole, putty away!

Yes once again it is just for a small push button switch. Fill er in. Now on the New Merkava Mk.IV LIC kit., that same hole and plug will be there but the kit will come with it's belly armour to cover that spot.

I don't think it's a 'motorization hole' I think it is the location of the 'sprue' that attaches the tub to the mold. Seems to be a common 'feature' of the Academy molding style

I stand corrected, I took a closer look at my Merk IV and up at the front are motor mounts - but as far as I can tell the hull glues together and not a push together with the posts and 'grommets' that old kits had. So if you do motorize it how would you change batteries?

Nice... Is there a projected release date or is it already out?
Thanks, "Q"

Irrespective of the 'hole' issue, shouldn't the Merk IV have a large slab of belly armour that they missed on this kit? I THINK it was included with the 'Legends' resin kit so I wonder why Academy ( so I'm told) missed this?
As such, the hole will get covered up anyway if one scratch builds the missing belly armour.

I think the belly armour is there (that's what the large shackles are holding up on the front and rear tow hooks). Just that it seems to be glued right to the hull, it should be spaced out a bit.

Not all Merkavas have the extra belly armour. It is a portion of the LIC fitment, although as with all things IDF it can also be found on some non LIC tanks. Other Merkava marks also are fitted with extra belly armour as well.
