Gentlemen-

Originally a siege weapon of old to bring down the enemy’s fortifications, the mine had developed into a variety of highly specialised weapons. Ranging from small anti-personnel mines to huge multi-ton underground explosive charges of World War One; from being a covert passive charge to actively moving high-tech weapon system, the mine is most controversial. Today an estimated 60,000,000 mines are actively deployed or lay forgotten in the killing fields of the war zones of the past one hundred years.
In mine warfare laying and sweeping mines takes up great efforts on behalf of the fighting parties. Mines may be laid and swept by aircraft, ground forces and marine vessels alike.
This campaign focuses on both sides of the effort in mine warfare.

So who is with me on this one? There are plenty of kits to choose from figures to planes, from tanks to ship and submarines.
I am thinking about a start date of mid 2011and a campaign duration of 6 to 9 months.

I will sign up if you can make the campaign a 12 monther.

I have the Italeri 1/35 Schnellboot in my stash with a set of Cammett mines, just looking for an excuse to get built. There is no way i will get this huge model done in ubnder 12 months.

Here is what is going on the back...

Hello, Noel!
I'll be starting the campaign in 06/2011.
The initial duration is given at 6 months, but only because I can't set the date into 2012 due to site limitations. In any case I will extend the campaign very (very, very,...) likely beyond that, as I am a slow builder myslef and plan to make something big myself and a year-long campaign is nothing extraordinary in ship modelling. I will be very happy to count you in.
I'll post here again as soon as the enlisting is up and running.
Cheers,
Guido

I'm in...

Thinking either naval aircraft, mine detection team, or related vehicle. I'll be stopping by from time to time for ideas.

Noel: You may be certifiable for taking on that kit, campaign or not, you're a hero mate

Noel: You may be certifiable for taking on that kit,

I think you may be right. It is currently insulating my roof and is just too big a kit to tackle in the limited space I have to work at the moment. We are hoping to move out of town next year and I have done a deal with the Minister of Defence that as long as I get my own room or ideally a nice big garage I won't quibble about the cost of curtains or how many scatter-cushions infest the house.

I will certainly not be adding any PE to the model but will add the mines and I might have to swap the rear Flak 38 for a Flakveirling. Either way I am going to need space and time and probably quite a few beers.... and my attempts to quit smoking may well be ruined too!

Could be tempted by this one? It would give me an excuse to build Trumpeters stryker with the mine roller.
