it's been a while but I have returned to do a little bit more with my DUKW with Eduard PE. I still have to do a lot of detail painting and finishing attaching things like the anchor and windscreen and also it is still to be weathered. The boom on the back is a lifting jib and all of this including the lifting chains is scratch built. These were used by the Australian Army for unloading other DUKW's in the pacific. Any comments welcome. More pics can be seen by visiting my selected link below and clicking on page 4.

What can I say, that the pics don't show already.
Your attention to detail is evident again on another, more unique, vehicle. UOM material for sure! Keep us posted.

What can I say that others haven't already? Great work. Could you give us some details on how you made the boom, especially the chain?

Cliff:
Where'd you get he plans for the jib? I'd like to add that to my DUKW.
Also, how well does Eduard handle the area behind the seats? I didn't use a PW set, but did replace the molded screen with some diamond mesh I had leftover from another project. Then I scratched in the posts and clamps for the MG mount (which I will not install). Also, does Eduard's set have a solution for the wave-breaker on the front? You modeled it raised, like the kit instructions want you to do, but most DUKW pics I have show it down, so I went that direction. I also am modeling the windscreen down and folded. I'm just really curious about how much value the Eduard set really is.
Great job, I can't wait to see more!

Looks great Cliff. Was that jib used for loading the DUKW? It just looks like it's in the way for loading it.
HollowP., the Eduard set looks to be quite extensive. You can view the set and the instructions for it HERE You just need Adobe Acrobat.

Indeed nice work Cliff. The A-frame adds your personnal touch to the Duck and gives it so much extra character. Lovely weathering also ......... so dusty......so nice! With some assorted stowage now and hopefully a figure or more ...... this will be brillaint .... it is already!

Could you give us some details on how you made the boom, especially the chain?
The boom was scaled from some pics I had of these boom DUKW's in the pacific from the Australian War Memorial site. What I will do over the next few weeks is to do some sketches and pics for an article on the boom and the loading chains, which while fiddly to do can add a lot to a model.
Eduard PE. - I found this to be excellent and was so impressed with the first one I purchased another to go with the second DUKW kit I have still unopened. However it does not address the problem with the wave protection flap in the bow! I feel though that it is more then worth while having.
figures etc. Well the intention was to build this one with the boom and the second kit with a 25lb short (AUST) field gun just about to be unloaded from it. A friend is going to do the figures and then we display it togeather. But this will happen in the longterm and not the shortterm as there is too much to do at the moment.
once again thanks for the comments

Nice view of the rear of one of these.I notice the driver's seat looks crooked,is it just loosely set in? Andditto for the accelerator pedal. As seen in your pictures.

I know it looks a bit goofy, but that's the way it is supposed to look. Here are some pics I found on the Web that have been helpful with my DUKW: http://www.kmk-scaleworld.be/walkAround/DUKW/
