i use the Plus Models Lead Wire, that comes in lots of different thicknesses. Perfect for straps, just roll it flat with a wallpaper roller

Hey Jeff, try looking at the hardware store for aluminum tape for duct work. Comes in a roll and will last a lifetime. I use it a lot for tarps,straps,fan belts,clamps etc. It's got adhesive on the inside but it's easy to remove if necessary.
