I thought I'd put together a small dio that somewhat depicts vehicles fallen to IED's or heavy attacks which left them totally destroyed and unusable. I had seen quite a few pics of badly damaged vehicles, beyond repairs, just put into a heap or collected together and placed into a 'Junkyard' type for damaged vehicles. So this is my loose representation of such yards during the Iraqi War...
Many pics. This dio also shows my first attempts to model figures. Not the best but I am learning. Enjoy:

Great work, if we can replace the child soldiers, it will be more interesting. A "playground."

This was my first attempt at building and painting figures. So I apologies for the way they look. I assume you mean they look childish? Also, these were the only ones I had on hand. put italicized text here

Very nice dio Charles.
You have all of the details down to the orange cones. I think the figures look just fine. You should be proud of this one.

I think it looks great Charles. I don't really understand what Blackwater was trying to get over in his post, but the figs looks fine to me. Would it be possible to see a photo of the entire dio?

Great dio, man. I have actually seen an area like this at FOB Sykes when we drove there on our weekly mail run. A few points though:
1. Like some of our esteemed members, a site like this is usually buried deep within the FOB, not out on the perimeter.
2. Because of that, the personnel around the site are more than likely not all kitted up like that.
Otherwise I love it.
One other thing-you might consider drilling down further into the tops of the traffic cones to give them a more hollow look.

Thanks for the constructive criticism. About the figures being the way they are; They just arrived on site to dispose of some things. I probably should have made it clearer in the scene, but I could not decide how to do it. On top of that I had limited space to arrange them.

Charles, awesome work! I think it takes a brave man to hack up a new kit to make a wrecked vehicle! Overall very good work!

Extremely well done! A great idea. The scene also makes one think about who might have been in those destroyed vehicles. Very appropriate, considering the significance of tomorrow's date.

Charles,
Great looking diorama, the figures look good. Question where did you get PLS Racks from? Also the generator in the back of the 5 ton?

Hi Tom. Both the generator were scratch built. The PLS racks were part of a scratch built M1075 I built. The generator was part of scratch built mobile generator trailer.

The diorama itself took about a week to do. But the models took a little longer. Say a total of 2 months.

That's excellent work Charles. On some of the photos, the casual observer noit knowing it's a scale dio could easily be forgiven for mistaking it for the real thing.

Charles,
Thank you. Do you have any scale diagrams of either of those two?
