Truly outstanding stuff.....the figure with the sledge I think works.....most maint guys look pissed when trying to work their way through a repair!!!

When you lay the MGs on the mat....maybe a spare barrel or the barrel separated......cleaning rod!!

I love it....looks great!!

Rounds Complete!!

Thanks Martyn. I have had fun with this one. For the mechanics, I will be using the Warriors AAVR7 Crew sets.

I will use both guys from this one:

And the standing guy from this one:

I'll post again once I get them going.

Thanks KoSprueOne. As of yet, I haven't decided on the base size. I am toying with about 13" square. It will just be the tank, 3 mechanics, and a few accesories around it on a tarmac pad. I'll figure it out once I get the figures and see how they fit.

Hi Gino,

Great model with a quick question about 3/8 Cav. What did they used to be? I know after the first gulf war 1st cav reflagged to all Cav. I used to be 1/32 Armor, just wondering if thats who 3/8 Cav used to be?

Hi James, thanks for the compliment on the build. As far as 3-8 CAV, I don't know. From their history page at Ft Hood, I gathered the following:

"...the Squadron was redesignated in February 1987, to its current designation as the 3D Battalion, 8th Cavalry, assigned to the 3D Armor Division activated in Germany.

The 3D Battalion, 8th Cavalry, was inactivated in November 1991, in Germany, and relieved from assignment to the 3D Armored Division. In December 1992, 3D Battalion, 8th Cavalry, was assigned to the 1st Cavalry Division, and activated at Fort Hood, Texas."

Hope that helps.

Gino,

Yet another outstanding build! Nice to this this one with the Mine Roller...I love the Interior, surely inspiring when I can someday do the same.

Keep them coming!

Nick: Thanks for looking in and for the compliments. I have seen your work and am confident you could do the interior just as well.

Gino, awesome build. The interior is really amazing.

3/8 Cav was our sister unit at Coleman Kassern in Gelnhausen (i was with 4/8 in GW1). 3AD deacivated and 4/8 was lost to the history books 3/8 went to become part of 1Cav at Hood.

Gino, where did you get those decals for 3/8 cav? I am hoping to find some that I can alter to make a 4/8 bumper number. Cheers.

Here is the progress so far. The tank is done. Now I need to add a couple figures and a base. The MGs will be laid out on a tarp. There will be a tool box and some tools as well. ...

.... As always, all comments are welcomed.

Very, very nice. It's soomething I would like to do with the M60A1 and other tracks I served on years ago.

Where do you start?

Thanks Jim, it was a fun build. For most of my super-detail products, I start with lots of pics and any dimensions I can find. I also use the pics to guage size based on things I know the size of that may be in the pic, like a radio or an M16, etc. From there, I just build what I see.
