This is a Italeri GMC water tanker kit in disguise. The cover is from the heller GMC kit and is cut away to show what is underneath. The hood bows are from the Tamiya kit and the MG mount and access hatch is scratch built. I also used the Eduard PE set for this kit. Still to go is to finish the paintingand do the weathering and decals. All comments welcome.

Lord Bummy Dude,

Another fine example of your superb scratch skills, in real life, I think, you, Gunnie, and animal are the three best scratchers I know. You people scratch good.

Good work, can't wait to see it finished.

Ain't too shabby for bummy people.

Nice work! Do you intend to open up the rear of the truck or close it in a few days?

Cliff, my dad always told stories of his service as a truck driver in WWII. He'd say they had to camoflauge (sp) their gas trucks to keep Patton's tankers from highjacking them. Is this the kind of thing he was talking about? I've wondered about that for some time now.

Great job on the truck.

yes this is how they did it. It was mainly done to disguise water and fuel trucks from the air so that they looked like ordinary trucks and not worth wasteing ammo on.

Thank you all for your kind comments, especially yours Animal as I am in awe of yours and Gunnies trucks and scratch building.

Cliff, you really are going to have to get down to doing some work on 1/35 plans for your scratchbuilds..... I would definitely be in the market for something like that..especially if they were CMP conversions......Jim

Cliff, I have your van kit and it's just great. I had never visited your photo site until now. I can only say "WOW"!!! I'm impressed!!! You gotta get some more of these out and available to us poor old guys who come up a little short on the scratchbuilding skills. You can be Mr. Roo, but AKA "Mr. GMC" or "Mr. Softskin". A 25th Infantry "Tropic Lightning" salute to you.
