Does the expert community have any insight into the new T-72 offering from Meng?

personally, I don't expect they can release a better T-72 than Trumpy guys as their T-72B3 didnt impressed me and some of my friends....while trumpy even going to release a brand new T-72B/B1 combo with ref 09555 to let ppl to make the most of those spare part from 05599...
well it depend on the personal taste whether we want a static kit or a kit we can push and play on the carpet....LOL

Cannot comment on something we have not seen. Once the kit is in hand, discussion can begin.

I wondering if anything really needs to be with the engine cooling louvers on the rear deck. I have a couple of builds where people scratch-build the louvers completely.

Since this post got bumped again, I'll post it here.
What variant of T-72 is this exactly?

Curious, as I know it was one of the T-72s Canada got from East Germany, and then ended up used for OpFor training... It even has Canadian markings, along with some sort of name on the side, and it's seemingly 'original' turret number... I've been thinking of trying to build a model of it for a while now, but the lack of 'plain' T-72s has put me off.
Thanks for any help on this!

Edit: If anyone needs to know specifics to identify it (Ex: Wheel differences), let me know... I've taken far more pictures of it than I'd like to admit

It is a T-72M1. Tamiya kit is your starting point.

I have a feeling I know the answer already, but does anybody know if there have ever been Polish T-72s with the applique front armor and turret with the old rangefinder?

By turret with the old rangefinder, are you referring to the T-72 "Ural" with the stereoscopic sight on the right side of the turret?

So far I have not found any images showing ANY T-72 Ural with the front glacis add on armor. Even the stock from Russia that was sent to Syria has no additional armor.

For the Polish T-72, you probably should change the glacis even if there ever was 1 made because it would not be what is most often seen. IF you want a representative model, that is.

Or you can have fun and build it the way you want.

Yeah, I haven't seen anything either.

I'll just wait around until I can snag a glacis. Already putting in a lot of effort to make sure it's correct.

Apologies for digging this thread up, but I have a question regarding Czechoslovak and Polish built T-72's.

Is there a list of diagnostic features for these tanks in the same way as there is for the T-55's built by these countries?

I have had a stab at using the search engine but I haven't as of yet found anything.

Thanks in advance,

Michael.

Hey Guys,

Long time no Talk but getting back at it, I have a silly question that I cant find the answer too, I have seen a lot of text but no pics. Can someone tell me the difference between a T-72B and a B1 both with ERA? I can kinda tell between an AV an B with ERA but a B-B1 I cant tell they look exactly the same to me. Thanks in advance.

That's it wow. I fell stupid I looked and looked for any differences but missed that.

2nd Question is it the same for tracks. I see some are the metal type and some have the split in middle are those remanufactured tanks?

Yes, on the T-72B you'll see the original RMsh tracks as well as the split type which first appeared on the T-90 AFAIK. I'd imagine this is the type you'd see on any upgraded or re-manufactured tanks.

I'll give it a shot

#1 agree, T-72A model 1983 (late production)

#2 beat up T-72B, ERA bricks often missing

#3 agree. Not sure on barrel, thermal wrap may just be missing.

#4 & #6 may be same vehicle, Azeri T-72B1 ? looks like it has standard gunners sight.

#5 & #7 both T-72 model 1979 (mid production)? questionable because of front fenders.

Due to the uniform pattern, #5 and #7 photos were surely taken in Hungary.
I have asked a local T-72 expert to identify this version.

I do believe that the #5 tank is in the best condition and taken to any demos, exhibitions and public days countrywide. I have taken some photos from this vehicle, too.

Actually the HDF got several batches of T-72s from various sources and as I rmember the last time they arrived from Belarus (compensation). Any version is imaginable, even more mixing is possible due to using any spare part availalable at the time of mid-big level maintenances.

For example I recently modelled a Hungarian T-72A with 6 and 8 spokes wheels mixed because the (still existing tank) have them.

Best advice: build a tank based on reference photos.

I have got the answer. It is T-72A with some extra armor on the commander’s hatch only. Any other T-72 (in Hungarian service) with full cladding on the turret have three boxes all around the turret - this has only two plus the snorkel tube visible on the left side.
And ses, the front of the fender and most of the small side skirt by the zip boxes is different for any reason. That small skirt shall be of gum bit here it is metal plate.

I hope it helps.
