Hi all
I am working on a small vignette for my Tiger I and I want to put it into a corn field (not the american maize, but wheat or something like that) I searched the Railway stores today but found nothing suitable.
It is a 48 scale Tiger so I need something 2-3cm long(high) and I want a mat as I do not want to glue in thousands of halms separately. I also searched the Heki, Noch and Busch online sites but seems I am just too stupid to find what I need. Crazy thing is that I could swear I have seen such thing in a store already, but I do not remember where and what.
any help appreciated

This is how I want the vignette and yes the crew is a bit headless at the moment. (The white areas shall be cornfield):

Steffen,
Try this site;
http://sceneryexpress.com/
They usually have something. You may have to look at several places on the site, but hopefully they will have something useful for you. Plus they ship quick and are friendly.

Thank you Guys!!!
at a first glance the stuff there is all to short (longest being 8mm and I need twice as much as minimum), but I got another hint over at ML and maybe I try "TeddyBear Fur" (Link) .. in case I get such stuff here in Germany...

Hi all
That TeddyBear fur hint was great! I found exactly what I needed today. Probably paid a bit more than necessary (10 Euro for a piece ca. 20cm by 50cm), but I am really happy with that stuff.
Here is a pic just cut roghly to shape, not glued yet, no paint added:
Thanks again!

Hi Steffen
Well done with the field, it looks really good!
Did you skalp the bear or planted the hair separately?
Hope you gave the bear a little jacket as replacement. With no more hair and this cold outside!
Good job

Interesting project Steffen -I think trying to spray a darker colour at the base of the errr.. fur could help avoid too much uniformity. And maybe spraying a lighter colour on the tip too. Nice figs and panzer!

Thanks JB!!
I tried something, but I am not sure it improved the look .. as I wrote: I will try to take some photos tomorrow. Of course I just do a little vignette (actually two) that cannot be compared to all the fine work here on Armorama, remember I am an a/c guy!
All the best

P.S. test (light bulb from above ... natural light hopefully later)

Good morning
lighting conditions are not perfect but good enough to take some pix. These are not altered, just cut and scaled. I still need to touch up a few spots but generally it is done. Skybow Tiger I early, Armor Modelling 8/2005 Wittmann crew, Hauler screens, Master barrel. Decals from Bison and some others to make 1331.
Again many thanks for all the help and support!

sorry i forget to include he other stuff. i was gonna say that i have had the same problem replicating something for a russian diorama, and what i meant was would this be suitable for use in a diorama depicting a russian farmers field in summer 1942 or is corn not grown in Russia?

Hi Stan
I do not really understand your point, which is probably due to my bad command of English. I wrote "not American maize" because "maize" is called "corn" over there.
Also I do not think it would be historical correct for a 1940ies field in the USSR .. if you want something different why not do a sun flower field? I have seen a dio once with a Marder (SPG) in such a field (probably in the German mags Modellfan or Kit) which was stunning but that is/was a helluva work (PE then, but you can get plastic and paper plants too nowadays)...
