Masterbox Ltd. have just sent us the first images of their latest W.i.P. - covering a subject which we''ve been needing in Styrene for a VERY long time
For Allied (and particularly) Commonwealth enthusiasts, one of the ''Holy-Grails'' has long been an affordable Vickers HMG and crew. Now, as promised, Masterbox has sent us the first images of this long-awaited subject. The Photo-Report can be seen:

I look forward to the release of this set as I have just started buying African Campaign figures, I would have liked to have seen the figures broken into two sets rather than one that way I could get more of the figures I am after. It would seem that MasterBox and I have to say MiniArt are continuing to make the figure sets that many people have been waiting for. I look forward to the progress on this set and well done MasterBox.

A second European theatre option would also be well received!

There are areas which need to be improved on. These photos should be self-explanatory:

One suggestion I would make is to provide an extra right arm shown hitting the grip with the palm of the hand, this was done after a 3 second burst to alter the ground being covered by fire.

Great to see this finally coming along, but as Jim points out the gun needs a lot of work yet.
I like the idea of the dead/wounded Germans but if they chaneg their mind perhaps they could include a decent quanity of ammo boxes.
Excellent announcment, look forward to developments.

I like them too but they got very close to the MG before getting hit didn't they ?
Perhaps a set of casualties on their own. Most companies who produce American Civil War figures produce dead and dying figures but there are very few in 1/35 scale.

Is it me or does the Tommy Helmets on the gun crew look more like Bowler hats? they seem to small for the heads in brim length.
Also the hands of the gunner. The forefingers wrapped around the spade grip top to avoid being smashed by the cocking handle as it reciprocated. The Index fingers lifted the safety up while the thumbs pushed in the Trigger button.

Once again, the Ribbed barrel comes into the mix. That flash-supressor also keeps changing with ever image

Hi Jim,
http://www.vickersmachinegun.org.uk/
Lots of data in the link.
The guns were modified over time and you see early WW1 examples being used especially in the desert but you have the right info up.
If I was them I'd do 2 one ribbed for NA and one not for NWW with the late flash suressor, jacket and dial sight.
In the example show in the WIP some of the parts seem a bit large so hopefully they will scale them down a bit.
This is a brillient development.

Great news.
The Vickers has been sadly lacking in plastic. I'll take at least two to start with, one for an LRDG Chev that has been in the pile for some time and might do a vickers carrier with the other.

Of course another possibility is that the Vickers could also be produced in its transport mode. Firstly, to produce a Machine Gun section moving up on foot. Secondly, to provide 'stowage' for the Universal Carrier.
Going with the M1912 would also open up a future possibility for WWI figures - something which is REALLY needed!
