I see that this kit is out in HK. What is the word on this one? Is it a good kit or one to avoid?
Thanks
Mike

Mike, I think it's a good solid kit. Is it perfect? No, like so many others it can stand improvement. OOTB it can be built up and look good, but with just a little work and maybe some AM bits (for me most notibly the tracks), or some scratch building it can be built up to look very nice. There was a group build going on over on IDF-in-scale you might want to take a look at. Keep a couple of things in mind; one, these guys are using the first kit which didn't have the non-slip surface molded on (among other things); second, some of them have taken the super detailing to extreme levels (I'm not saying that's bad, it just shows what you could do if you wanted to ) Here is a link to the build threads:

Mike

Mike,
Nice builds. I was a member there at one time and now when I try to sign in all it says is to contact the moderator.
I have tried that several times and the guy never responds.

Adam, slightly off topic...

I too would like to participate in the IDF forum, although I understand you have curtailed join ups.

Any chance you would reconsider in the future?

Hi Ed,

I have not curtailed memberships to idf-in-scale.....I open the registration form
regularly (for short periods only)...

The reason?....when I open the registration form, I receive 100-200 spam
registrations a day, so filtering out the "real" people takes time. If I leave the
form open for more than 2-3 days, then the spam gets out of control...

Hi Adam,

I too tried to regiester to Idf-in-scale but somehow an email ask me to get permission from my parents to participate. Im 45 years old and I think my parents permission would not be necessary for this.

Thanks,

Eric

....this is part of the phpBB forum code - it cannot be changed.

If you click the correct option (ie: born before 1998)...you won't get that message.....simple eh?

Hello Adam,
I was wondering if you could help me with finding an Orthographic Mercava IV views diagram. I have the sides' views but i need back, front and top. I'm building Merkava mk4 in 3D and this are the views im missing.
If you'll be able to help I'll gladly share the model once its finished.
Thank you for your time.

Back to the topic, I have both the original version and the LIC one from Academy.
My personal feeling is that the LIC can be build in a decent model, as always depending on the level of accuracy you want to achieve...
The molded on antiskid is a nice try, but it seems more Abrams stylish one than the IDF kind of. Too uniform, too "soft" maybe, just unreal for this vehicles....
Details? Some are quite good, some are just an approach to the real thing.
In general terms the same comments and observations given to the original version still applies here; the LIC package extra parts seem to be fine but I have to say I hate ACADEMY'S rendition of the loader's cuppola.
I believe that IDF-in-scale forum is a must to get the best from this kits.
But this is kind of an "in box" view. Still have to start building it...
Maybe a 7 over 10 kit, but just my opinion.
