Hi,
If I may give a piece of advice, wouldn’t the loose objects fall after the house is shaken by a shell.

Hi again,
The plants will probably fall over, and the books on the shelf would probably fall over. For example the candle in the kitchen would have fallen to the ground (the briefcase as well). This is just my advice!
Any way the progress is good, looking forward to the finish! Are you going to add figures? How did you paint the kitchen furniture?

Hi guys thanks for hte interest.Hi SD what you doing hiding in here
bit more done but first of Vlad this is just dry fitted to see how it goes.
Domi the phone seems a bit strange but looking though photos of the era and thant it seems all i got wrong was the color phones like this i have found only seem to have been about in white and blue.with black as the norm.they seemed to have a very slight diffrent shape to the seat of them but prity much the same.
heres the latest on the kitchen.still a bit to do.

I agree: the telephone looks too modern (60s era) and there certainly wouldn't have been a red telephone anywhere in the Netherlands at that time (black, light grey or beige were common colors). The wallpaper on the other hand is an excellent choise for a 'nieuwe kunst' type of wallpaper

Great detail in the house,
No radios on the mantelpiece...
On May 13, 1943 the Dutch were told they had to turn their radios in .Who kept his radio, risked a severe penalty: concentration camp.

I am fine with the radio: After all, at that stage British paratroopers have landed and American forces are quite close: I think they would have taken the risk of having the radio out of it's hiding place After all, many did still have their radios and listened to them frequently during the war.

Just a little done today the upstairs hallway as a new resident just a bit more needs doing to the roof on that bit then finished.
Any one for tea in the living room least theres some thing to sit on now
just a few bits left and the light from royal model to install in the hallway.
More still to come on this keep watching feed back and advise welcome.
well guys finaly had to make a start getting the main building together so i can make a start on the right hand side of the roof as it all had to be together to get it sorted, also wanted to give it a bit of hight to the dio ended up with a few diffrent levels,so i made a start on the surrounding wall and steps.
close up of the wall
the house dry fitted yo the base to give you a look at the size of it and what i am planning.
Made a start on the right hand side of the roof and the bath room still a bit to do,and not forgetting to add all the rubble and such.
And heres a view of the front as it stands now still a way to go fences flower pot and some other eye candy and touching up.
I have managed to do a little bit more to the roof.
i'll get a better photo once the sun comes up

I love the amount of detail in the interior. Nice looking building as well. Can't wait to see what else you have planned.

It looks very promising, and well done so far... Part of the rubble and torn up stuff is quite convincing.
A few nitpicks though - I hope constructive:
The carpets and the furniture (couch/chair) is not displaced, ruffled (all carpets are neat and tidy stretched on the floor) or turned over (same in the kitchen), which considering he percussion -and presumably running around of inhabitans/soldiers comes across as rather odd.
Likewise, since the house seems to be hit by artillery/mortars, it is rather odd to see no shrapnell damage to the furniture, floors and carpets and the walls (even though shrapnell is possibly the most feared aspects of artillery and especially mortar fire)
I know that surprisungly often objects escape virtually untouched, but now there seem to be too many... and I think that the fact that you have not destroyed the whole house and its contents to rubble and dust is a good thing. Yet I do think the dichotomy between the untouched and hit by the blast is a bit too great, IMHO.
I do think that a convincing scene showing war damage is incredibly difficult to pull off. And I am also well aware that I have yet to finish a model in well over a decade, and I am a long way off from even considering building a scene like yours/you intended.
I do also think that you have thought of many of the objects present/needed to pull of the idea that war suddenly interrupted a peaceful day at home (much like it did at the time) - what is needed to give the house a 'lived in' look.
Likewise the house is one that style-wise would fit (it definitely does not seem out of place). Which is another positive..
Of course if you had not yet gotten to those tasks, then feel free to ignore my comments.
Cheers, and hope this helps,
Harm

Hey Andy, Great work so far, good detail for a house disturbed by war. One thing I belive you should check out though. By the time the allies arrived, the Germans had pretty well starved most of the cities into starvation. Seems like an abundance of food stuffs for the time. But then maybe they had a blackmarket connection too. Sitt all in all, a real nice build.

Bob,
this is not entirely true...
The starvation was primarily in the west of the country (Holland/Utrecht), and not in the east, and was after Market Garden - my assumption is that this scene is placed during or shortly after Market Garden. It was the winter after (1944/1945) that is known as the 'Hongerwinter' (Winter of starvation). Allegedly it was at least in part a direct result of Market Garden. Also, a considerable part of the population in the east that did possess extra food, bartered valuables from westerners for food - indeed, far too many extorted westerners coming over for food.
Until the late fall of 1944 and following early winter, there was little starvation. Indeed, the Dutch populace was reasonably well supplied (although much foodstuffs were rationed).

Oh lala, nice build Andy!
You probably put the whole house interior after market stuff in there!
I checked the original Blog and missed where you have your kitchen stuff drom or how you made it.
The boxes and stuff on the shelves. Can you give me some details.
It's a pity to cover a lot under dust and rubble.
Cheers
Claude
