Hello everyone,
Below are some pic's my 85% completed Tiger. The Kit is Tamiya with odd bits & bobs. I used mainly Tamiya paints, with the occassional humbrol paints.
I have to admit that i was a bit put off by the colour i used for the base coat (Dark yellow) however when i gave the whole thing a wash of burnt umber it settled down quite abit. So far its coming on a treat. :-) :-) :-)
I tried to recreate the weld seem on top off the turret with milliput. but i hate that stuff, so i left it off......... maybe next time
Any commnets welcomed.
Hope you like the pics

Looks good to me. I've always liked the early Tigers, they look so "clean" without all the clutter of zimmerit, elaborate camouflage schemes and whatnot. The metal objects like the tow cables and spare track links look a little too clean though. Nothing dark colored on a tank stays dark for too long.
Regardless, it is an impressive build. Which kit is it? The Tamiya Afrika Korps Tiger? Any aftermarket parts used. This is the one I plan on building sometime in the near future.

Looking really good Ricky. I've been doing some painting on my project of the same kit. I was wondering about the decals though, did you use the ones from the kit? and if so did you use the standard steps to keep those turret numbers from silvering? The outline numbers have so much clear film I was worried about silvering.

Very nice indeed
I particularly like the running gear - very nice paintjob. My only recommendation would be to have a few scratches, particularly on corners/edges around crew areas.
Great job

Looks nice, I like it
I don't have critics, but generally the desert Tiger has the red number...
regards

Thank you all for your comments.
Major Grifter- I did use the kit decals, with a coat of future on before they went on great, however it has been pointed out to me by Captain Venom that desert tigers had red numbers, so it may be an idea to get some aftermarket decals.(gives me another chance to build another one) :-)
I do have a question though, what is the best way to recreate scratches/scuff marks any help would gratefully received

Try painting them with a fine brush - I found this picture on Missing-Lynx which I think you will find very useful

Nice looking Tiger. I relaly like how you've shaded it.
Someone commented on painting scratches...doing so is the exact opposite of what a scratch is. If I were to "scratch" something up. I think I'd actually scratch the paint with the edge of a #11 blade to remove the paint and give a slight dimensional feel before adding a tiny amount of an oxidized metal or of the primer color.
Grifter, you asked about avoiding silvering on the large turret numbers and the massive amount of carrier film...With numbers this large, you should be able to cut away almost all the carrier film and still have very workable numbers to attach.
